Spot on. Nothing spectacular. Just unbelievable fundamentals all over the field and guys who are tough + a generational HS coach. Throw in a few D1 recruits every year who make a big impact on the field and you have a VERY solid HS team for the Midwest. That TE they have who is going to Kansas turned down a lot of bigger offers. Including Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, USC, etc. He'll be a load to handle for the SF secondary.
FWIW, SF secondary is their strength on D, they have some guys back there. But yes, that kid looks like a problem for anyone.

This reminds me of the time a 1-8 Benet team beat the IN 4A runner ups (when there were 5 classes).

Anywho, so what Im gathering from @skinsfootball and @Boiler79_rivals219186 is that they think SF coaching isnt good, they dont have fundamentals, they aren't tough, and they dont have any recruits.

Far be it from me to be here defending SF, but in my limited viewing of New Pal, I saw a team that looked like they had 1200 kids in the building. Thats not a bad thing since thats what they are, but the 85 Bearification of this team is completely unwarranted. Are there some games against better competition than Greenfield Central available?
This response is more dramatic than my wife's when I ask her to go golfing for the 4th day in a row. I was just speaking to what I know about New Pal. Nothing for you to lose sleep over though. " SF got this....."

Oh man, I remember that team. That was South Bend Washington. They had 2 future NFL players and just played street ball to get them TD's. They only played in the State Championship because Indiana doesn't seed, everyone gets in, and the brackets are based on where you're located. They would have been out after a few rounds had they came out of the South bracket. They were annhilated in the State Championship. That team was light years behind where New Pal is as a program.

I also remember when Brother Rice had a solid year around '14 and came down to Indy to lose to a 7-4 3A private school. The past is the past. Week 1 for both teams. Maybe a lot of guys taking varsity snaps for the first time, I'll take New Pal based on what I've seen out of that program since Ralph took over. No knock on SF.

No explanation can be made for the runners up to give Benet their only win of the season. And that Rice team and the Indy private basically had the same record and went to OT. Not gonna see me playing goaltender for Rice unless they gift me an orange jacket. Last time I was at a Rice game DGS sent them to the moon like Ralph Kramden.

@SiuCubFan8 I hand it back over to you with your Spartans as the week 1 favorites.

Major difference between Rice's schedule and Brebeuf's schedule. You yourself said SF and Loyola get the CCL bump. Same for South Bend Washington. I don't even think they dressed 50 guys for that State Title beatdown. They would have had no chance advancing past the 1st or 2nd round of the playoff if they came out of the South bracket. The defacto State Title that year was played in the 2nd round of the playoff when Cathedral played Indianapolis Roncalli. Besides, I don't see why a bottom feeder from the East Suburban Catholic wouldn't be able to compete with a smaller team like Washington was.

A bottom feeder from Brownsburg's conference went up to Lisle a few years ago and beat a down Benet team. Does that have any correlation to this year? No. SF isn't going down to Indy and playing another SB Washington. If they were they probably would have never scheduled the game.

@Cross Bones I appreciate your optimism on the Spartans but I do not share the same view. I will say, it's a positive that it is not the old set up where it would have been NPs 2nd game and SFs 1st. That would be an even tougher challenge going down to Indy. SF has some experience back but also will be breaking in a bunch of new kids, including QB. Week 1 games can be weird, my fear is if SF cannot get out of the gate strong it snowballs downhill quick. If they come out strong I see a relatively close game with NP pulling away late 2nd half wining by 2 scores. I have no clue what NP has lost or really has coming back other than their TE and another kid that is DI caliber. It seems, from comments in this thread, they have Vince Lombardi as their coach. So they have that going for them. Over the past few years SF has shown they can play with almost anyone but also lose focus and not put teams away they should or have the opportunity to. Maybe I am not giving NP enough credit but I don't think they are head and shoulders above Provi/Naz/LA/Rita/IC teams SF has played with and beaten over the last few years. Understanding that week whatever last year doesn't mean anything in week 1 this year but just saying.

LOL..I liked the Lombardy comment. Nice. He does also have a rep for not letting guys play without being able to meet certain lifting requirements. Lofty goals for the linemen. Anyways, here's some info on them from the State Title program. Looks like they have a few losses at key positions.

So skills back on O minus RB/QB, a few O-Line back and lost a good amount on D.
Looking at roster both teams are similar in size, NP will have a larger roster.
Hope it's a good game. Kinda fun to have a game like this were you don't really know what you are getting from your opponent. Not much from last year video wise on NP (from the quick glance at Hudl I took).

I saw
To my knowledge, StL has never played the BR from MI. I do know that the Chicago BR has played the MI BR. Not sure about the Mustangs or Caravan.

I do know that the St. Laurence baseball team has played the Andrean baseball team at Notre Dame University the last few years and it has resulted in some really great games. Usually both teams are ranked among the top teams in their respective states.
BR MI play at BR in 2015 and BR Chi running clocked them. I was at the game went before MC frosh played Marist. The year before they played them at the Big House and gave them a good game but MI won. MC played BR MI in 1983 and lost 14-7 at the Silver Dome.

I will say that their coach has a nice shirt, probably Versace or somethin. I still say they look like free eats for SF.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing. Free eats? lol. How so? What happened to SF against Loyola last year? A week earlier the Ramblers were trailing heading into the 4th quarter against a Merrillville team that New Pal hung 38 points and over 400 yards of offense on. Merrillville is 0-5 in their last 5 games against Indy teams with an avg margin of defeat of a little over 20.

The top teams from Indy, Cincinnati, Louisville and Cleveland have been playing each other for a while now. You might want to expect some L’s from time to time if Chicago teams are going to start joining the mix. Mt. Carmel, with all of their talent, barely beat a Moeller team that finished with 4 losses last year. Big Moe is 2-3 in their last 5 games against Indiana teams.

We’re in the Midwest. There’s not much of a difference between the high end talented teams in the different metro areas.

My guess is a split. New Pal over SF and Loyola over Cathedral. It’s going to be a long bus ride for SF to get to the far SE side of Indy. And New Pal will have a large week 1 crowd. I wouldn’t be surprised if SF came out flat to start the game. Cathedral’s offense was pretty bad last year and they’ve had a drop off in talent in the past few years.

Loyola played Merrillville in week 1 and Merrillville already had a game under their belt. There really is no excuse for them losing that game against a 4-5 Loyola. I think for you the better argument would've been the loss to IC, the close wins over PC twice, Kenwood, PR, and MP.

As for MC and Moe, again a week 1 team against a team with a game. Inexcusable for Moeller to lose that. Also, you'll notice that neither Merrillville nor Moeller played a CCL schedule, and they both lost.

If Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio teams want to step their game up to the IL level they'll need to play a CCL schedule. With IL moving the season up a week they won't even be able to get us with the 1st game disadvantage. I challenge any of these programs you're naming from OH, IN, KY to reach out to Bro Rice or Montini, get it on the schedule.

As for 2026 I dont care if its New Pal, Old Friend, or recent enemy, SF is dining well and getting their tab comped.

BBQ chicken. But kid still has confidence in his squad and wants the challenge. Coach should embrace this opportunity
Hoopstown very strange. Choice for Montini. Yes their schedule is a gauntlet but a 1a school is odd. But for what it’s worth I’ve seen corner canyon and they don’t jump off the screen, top 5 in IL compete with them, especially on the coaching side.

Ohio teams stepping their game up to the IL level? At this point you're just trolling and doing a poor job of it. Loyola, despite a 4-5 record, wouldn't have struggled to beat a Merrillville team that routinely gets dogwalked by teams from Indy if the CCL was so much more dominate than other leagues. Honestly, can you even name 3 teams from the Greater Catholic South and Ohio Capital Conferences without the help of Maxpreps?

Looking forward to hearing your excuses IF SF can't leave suburban Indy with the W.

You can't claim the CCL is untouchable in the Midwest if one of their historical top dogs, despite a 4-5 record, could barely beat a Merrillville team that routinely gets dogwalked by teams from Indy. I would be shocked if you could even name 3 teams from the Greater Catholic South and Ohio Capital Conferences without the help of Maxpreps.

Who doesnt know Elder, X, and Moeller? Didnt Phillips go and get walloped by Pickerington Central one year? Also, I'm pretty sure Loyola put boot to grill on one of those top Ohio teams recently, on ESPN. Look, I was a Bengals fan growing up... Icky Woods, James Brooks, Boomer so I get it, we have biases. But we have to set those aside and be real.

SF and Loyola will be cha cha sliding all through Indy, word to Cam Mitchell.

Edit: oh man I forgot, Elder came up and played NC on a Saturday not too long ago. A game I went to. Thorne and Reed were carving them up. NC lost but they made a game of it despite having multiple losses that season and Elder was a top OH team.

He is not. I do believe SF and Loyola win. I am poking a little fun at those who think you have to play a CCL schedule otherwise your schedule is weak. I am not seeing this super team in New Pal that they want us to see. A 1-8 Benet did beat an Indiana 4A runner-up when there were 5 classes.
