Argentina is living a charmed life. If this game goes to penalties, Argentina has the advantage.
Spain does not need to let this go to PKs for sure.

They proved it. Their record over the last 2-3 years is incredible.
Messi’s 39 years old and played all 120 minutes plus stoppages. And he was involved in most of their few opportunities, even if it was just initiating the entries.

Not been following soccer but I've enjoyed the World Cup . Now for my stupid question . Is a game like this somewhat of an anomaly ? I honestly don't see how Argentina kept it so close . Looks to me like if these two teams played 10 times Spain would win 9 and never by less than 2 or 3 goals .
One takeaway from the Fox coverage. I was moderately familiar with Thierry Henry before this tournament, but he’s a truly impressive dude all around. Enjoyed his takes and his class.
Yes and no. Sometime a keeper has a game where he just about can’t be beaten. Sometimes you have a game where one team dominates but can’t hit the goal.. That one was kind of a combo of both. It’s not a rare thing, but it’s not all that common either
He was almost impossible to dislike as a player too.
Just finished watching. Easily the 2 best defensive teams in the world. The better team won. Shouldn’t have been that close. Spain had a lot of shots but created very few good chances. And the should have. Martinez made a lot of saves, but as L4 pointed out almost all of them were very easy saves. Glad to see Argentina lose. They’re a dirty team & the biggest bunch of whiners & complainers you’ll ever see. Nico Williams is young & will make some mistakes, but damn he’s talented & provided Spain the offensive spark they needed. If this had gone to penalties, Argentina would have won.
He also does commentary for CBS Sports for their Champions League coverage. He’s very intelligent and makes great points without going into histrionics or giving hot takes.
It hasn’t been mentioned but the best woman’s player in the world delivered the game ball. I just felt this was worth a mention.
