Brother Rice Michigan used to play Chicago Brother Rice. They also used to play St. Laurence,St.Rita & I think Mount Carmel. Surprised that matchup wasn’t suggested. Mt Carmel Golden Aces vs Mt Carmel Caravan

Would love to see the Alcoa Tornadoes from Tennessee who have won 11 state titles in a row play a school of note from Illinois. They have about a 705 enrollment

To my knowledge, StL has never played the BR from MI. I do know that the Chicago BR has played the MI BR. Not sure about the Mustangs or Caravan.

I do know that the St. Laurence baseball team has played the Andrean baseball team at Notre Dame University the last few years and it has resulted in some really great games. Usually both teams are ranked among the top teams in their respective states.

Yes. They played in the 80’s on a Saturday night at Reavis. I don’t have my record book in front of me but I’ll check the year. I was there. Saturday Night Sep 13 1986 they played. I remember at the game the Warriors fans were telling me in 85 Rita played BR Michigan at the Pontiac Silverdome!!!

Rice won 23-14. Rita beat Rice 23-21 in 85 at the Silverdome

Would like to see Andrean (IN) play some CCL opponents. Some more St. Louis MO Catholics vs. Chicago Catholics too.
They do in baseball every year. They take on MC, BR and Laurence and are competitive. They do have strong football but if they were in IL they would probably be 3A

We all would, but won't ever happen.
Texas would be a problem due to their scheduling and of course I've been outta the loop with Texas football since moving to Alabama. California wouldn't be a problem. I will have to check with some Caravan brothers and see what they say...

Hey McCaravan... I have a question for ya. Why hasn't MtC played some powers out of Texas or California?

When I asked the reason was that they wouldn't be able to rub two nickels together to travel.

I'll take my hits from the doubters but it is was it is, it's the cost. MC is not a school that has money to burn. They are in a building that's over a century old and still paying for the new additions they needed to keep the school open. They don't get a bonus for winning State like winning a Bowl Game. They have a large endowment I won't deny that but it won't be used to fly the football team to a luxury destination to play a nationally ranked powerhouse. There is a lot of people they have to answer to that don't give a damn about Football. The school continually asks its families, alums and supporters for donations. They do Walk-A-Thons, Galas, "Giving Tuesdays", Fight Night, Double Good Popcorn, it's one thing after another and it's the same as many other Private Schools. If they flipped the bill for something like this, so non football caring donors and alums would have a fit and cut them off. You can't try poor and then take a trip to Florida to play a game and come back and say we need help to keep the school open.

The cost to send 75 players, 12 Coaches, Trainers, Managers, and essential school employees like tie AD, President. Principal and Dean would be tens of thousands. Then ask the families to fly down there....then 2 nights minimum in a hotel, transportation, meals.....big money. How does ESL do it coming from one of the more poorer communities in IL if not the Midwest? They have a money man and backer that MC does not have. MC had numerous wealthy alums and if one of them gives them a blank check and says go play IMG, St. Aquinas, Mater Deinkr John Bosco, they will gladly cash the check and go, but it hasn't happened....yet.

One thing is 100% certain it's not because they are dodging them or because they don't want to, they desperately do and so does Coach Lynch.

The 59'ers are too small to handle the those Big Boys in football. They are very competitive in basball against the CCL, but in football they're only 3A in Indiana and routinely get curb stomped by Merrillville, who routinely gets curb stomped when they play teams from the Indy area.

Indy has great football. Cathedral vs. Rita/Naz/Franny. Warren Central vs Morgan Park. Brownsburg vs East.
A 219 region vs Illinois be nice matchups, CP, Andrean, Merrillville, heck throw some of the privates in Fort Wayne
Agreed. I'm from the Chicago area and used to live in the Downers North school district. I've been in Indianapolis since 2002 and the football down here has really taken off since then as the suburbs exploded with growth and the Colts created an interest in football. There are a lot of good programs down here that are good for the same reason as Chicagoland (D1 talent, $$ for resources, large enrollments, etc.) A team like Brownsburg is solid for the same reason as a Lincoln Way East. The real difference to me is the Chicago area is just so much bigger than metro Indy that the quanity of solid teams easily favors Chicagoland.

Fort Wayne has some schools that can play as well. That area is a hotbed for D1 talent is very underrated when it comes to producing NFL talent.

Yeah, they opened with an impressive win over Archbishop Spalding (MD), the eventual state champion, then pretty much coasted through the rest of a weak schedule. I went back and watched a few of their games online, and I just don’t see MC losing.
They’ve got a great head coach, a solid sophomore QB, a really quick WR, and a few big linemen. After that, I thought the talent dropped off quite a bit.
I even took a deep dive using AI to see if I was missing something. The best explanation I was given is that the algorithm rewarded them for winning by large margins, while MC gets penalized for playing a much tougher schedule and winning by smaller margins. Also, didn't help that MC’s national opponent Moeller was dealing with injuries halfway through the season and couldn’t fill those in key positions. If they won state as projected MC’s probably in front last season and higher in the preseason rankings.
The Hoosier Crossroads Conference isn't close to being a weak conference. A lot of large suburban Indy teams loaded with talent, resources, coaching, and large enrollments. They would fit in very nicely with 8A football in Illinois.

MC definately has more top shelf talent than Brownsburg. But, you never know until the teams play. I would say Brownsburg probably had more talent than Moeller last year and Big Moe didn't just roll over and hand the game to MC.

Loyola plays at Cathedral on August 28
Is that going to be at Butler on turf? Cathedral has been playing there recently. The Irish don't have their own statdium. Tell the Ramblers to prepare for the crappiest field they'll see all year if it's played at Arlington, which is an old Indianapolis Public HS.

This one should be good. Cathedral has taken a step back recently as they're not getting as much high end talent as they're used to seeing. Still a very solid team.

We need SF to brutally beat New Palestine
Couldn't find anything for Cathedral on NFHS. Their hudl only had highlights. But I did find a youtube channel Indiana SRN that has a few of their games from last year up. Maybe we'll be lucky and they'll stream this one.
New Pal is very tough to beat. They're a growing suburban community that is starting to pump out D1 talent to go with extremely impressive line play on both sides of the ball. Very big and strong lines.

Their HC, Kyle Ralph, was a star OL at Cincy powerhouse St. Xavier and was an all ACC OL at North Carolina. He's an amazing HS football coach. HIs wife is from New Pal, which has probably helped them when it comes to larger schools wanting him.

155-14 with 5 State Titles in the lower classes. A lot of people think he's the best coach in Indiana. And that program has some balls, too. They are tough. They've even scheduled IMG Academy this year. Going by enrollment they're like a 4A school in Indiana. They're playing up due to success factor. A school that size has no business scheduling IMG.

Check "schedules and replays" on ihsaatv.org the week of the game. A majority of the games streamed around the state will be posted on this site. There is a good chance Indiana SRN or ISC Sports Network will stream it. ISC is an Indy based network that specializes in covering HS sports around Indy. Sometimes you have to pay, but the quality of streaming is worth the price.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Look at Brownsburg's football stadium as well as HS Athletic Annex. No way Huntley is dropping that much money into their facilities. This years Bulldog senior class has the following guys going D1 per 247:

4 Star WR to Indiana
3 Star DL to Missouri
3 Star OL to Kansas
QB to Illinois State
S to Bowling Green
TE to Bowling Green

There is probably at least another 2 to 3 D1 recruits in the Junior and Sophomore Class by the time they are Seniors.

Huntley doesn't get talent like that.

New Pal's downfall will be that they didnt face a CCL schedule to prepare them for SF. I havent been in SF but I am sure they have a weight room. Both from what I can tell both are in the 1100-1200 students range so that should be a push.

After New Pal's game against IMG we'll have a measuring stick for how SF measures against the national elite teams.

They have a pretty nice weight room, relatively new.

SF has 700ish student and 1160 multiplied enrollment.

It’s going to be tough game for SF.

You may want to look harder at the New Pal program. They’re very good. Wouldn’t be surprised if they beat SF by 2-3 scores.

Last year they beat some song by the Beach Boys and it wasnt even "I Get Around", Decatur--and I read enough of the Central State 8 thread to know that Decatur aint talkin about nothin, Yorktown--and we know they fell off ever since Montgomery Wards closed, Mt Vernon finished next to last in the South 7, Pendleton who was good with the Braves in the 80s and 90s but its 2026 now, Shelbyville, some beer, Plainfield...

Need I say more? SF got this...

I finally watched the game I found from last year for New Pal. They are much more SF than IMG. Didnt see anything spectacular to make me think they could compete with a national type team. I expect SF to win and IMG to get the clock moving with no resistance.

Agree on IMG. Odd game for New Pal to schedule. Too small of a school and not enough talent to take on a national all-star team. I'll take New Pal by at least 10 over SF and Loyola by about 7 to 10 over Cathedral. Cathedral was jekyll and hyde last year. I would expect to see the same this year.

Agree with this. Massey has New Pal favored by 20 over Franny. Loyola should win, but outside of Covington all the teams Cathedral lost to were some real powerhouses so that game may go either way.

From what I’ve been told the IMG game is basically a nobody else will play us and well play anyone game. I am not saying they are IMG talent wise but I do know they have elite coaching. Ralph is one of the best hs coaches in the country and the fact that they are willing take on IMG tells you he knows he has talent. Nothing spectacular is correct, they do what they do very well and very fast. If SF is within 14 points I will be shocked.

Spot on. Nothing spectacular. Just unbelievable fundamentals all over the field and guys who are tough + a generational HS coach. Throw in a few D1 recruits every year who make a big impact on the field and you have a VERY solid HS team for the Midwest. That TE they have who is going to Kansas turned down a lot of bigger offers. Including Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, USC, etc. He'll be a load to handle for the SF secondary.

This reminds me of the time a 1-8 Benet team beat the IN 4A runner ups (when there were 5 classes).

Anywho, so what Im gathering from @skinsfootball and @Boiler79_rivals219186 is that they think SF coaching isnt good, they dont have fundamentals, they aren't tough, and they dont have any recruits.

Far be it from me to be here defending SF, but in my limited viewing of New Pal, I saw a team that looked like they had 1200 kids in the building. Thats not a bad thing since thats what they are, but the 85 Bearification of this team is completely unwarranted. Are there some games against better competition than Greenfield Central available?
