Just saw that Adidas signed an NIL contract with the Cards new quarterback. It is reported as six figures which technically could be one dollar less than a million. They have similarly contracted with Ohio State and LSU. I’ll never understand why many reflexively reject any brand other than Nike.

Well, we don’t really have a choice now, considering that we just recently signed a new 10 year contract extension with Nike.
Whether you like it or not, UK and Nike will remain wedded for a long time to come.
Let me simply say this about Adidas: For years and years, I swore by New Balance.

Before anyone bemoans being a Nike school on this one claim, they should see the financial offerings of both entities. Making decisions on one financial factor out of many is not smart.
UK should have switched to Adidas long ago. Nike has been treating us like the red-headed step child for years. They haven't helped. The Stokes-to-Kansas stuff was embarrassing not only for Kentucky, but also for Nike.

You are correct but Ohio State and LSU are not mid level schools. LSU just recently switched and I would bet it benefitted them more than other offers. this type of NIL will never be outlawed, even if Congress acts.
In North America, Nike still dominates the market. Adidas reportedly has a 10 year deal with Louisville. I suspect most of these contract are for about 10 years. People complaining about a 10 year deal seem to be ignorant about these deals. A Google search states LSU still has a long term deal with Nike and that individual LSU athletes have deals with Addidas.
I read a few months ago that they had switched to Adidas and shortly thereafter, eleven football players had signed NIL contracts. I cannot remember where that was
I stand corrected. It was Tennessee which switched and signed a bunch of their athletes to NIL agreements. I searched and found article where I read this was USA Today. It is written in the contracts with the school.
I’ll have to check them out. I have a terrible back and leg/foot pain related to it.
Maybe Nike will rethink their strategy. It’s ridiculous they couldn’t get us over the hump in that recruitment.
Dunno, I know they were going to pay Stokes, but I have no clue if that translated to Milan or not. I’d assume the private funds raised for Stokes were either allocated toward Milan or his NIL deal was strong enough to him to sign.
I was mainly referring to a new strategy if Adidas is writing direct checks for athletes that is part of their contract with the school.
I would think Nike will start doing the same for their flagship universities in order to keep their grassroots players in the Nike line as much as they can.
Although I’m not broken hearted about losing out on Stokes, this is still truth.

Barnhart took the path of least resistance to the detriment of major UK sports. Two lifetime contracts, JMI….seems as if he needed to make deals that kept him from acting (on anything) for as many years as possible.
I don’t know but if even a portion was from Nike I think it would have been announced as a Nike NIL deal. What I read in that article stated that Adidas guaranteed NIL deals with athletes in a variety of programs which obviously included women sports. While Adidas can’t promise. Money for athlete to attend I’m sure the athletic departments know how much they have to work with and can factor it in their offerings. It’s an idiotic system rife with crooked parties on all sides.

What was up with Mitch and contracts he doesn't just sign stupid contracts he signed some stupid lengthy ones... I mean lifetime Cal, Stoops contract until 2031, JMI is for 20 years , and now hearing the Nike's contract is 10 years. I'm just so glad that ******* is gone! The new AD is hamstrung with all these contracts minus Cal's contract then Mitch's nice little 3.2 million parting gift Eli and himself cooked up! They also got to pay Michigan State for poaching our new AD as well 3.95 million.
