I know this has been discussed before but I think all the sport leagues have been chasing the money thrown around by streaming services to the point that they might end up slowly killing their own product.
The World Cup tv rights are up for bid soon and it’s rumored that a streaming service might try to get them. While it would obviously boost the subs for whatever service gets them, in the long run you’re losing total viewership by not being visible on a more “traditional” broadcast partner.
