I've stopped into I80 many times over the years. An amazing place for truckers and long distance travelers. RIP Will. Condolences to the Moon family. Great Hawkeyes.
Been there many times as well. Quite a place to fill up, get something to eat etc.

Big time booster.

Moon Family head football coach Kirk Ferentz.

It's sad when any decent human being dies, not just rich ones. My parents were just ordinary folks. They were factory workers. My dad was a radio operator in the Army Air Force in WW II because he finished in the top 2 percent on the military intelligence test, despite dropping out of high school in tenth grade to help feed his family in the Depression. Neither of my parents were high school graduates. They were too poor. But both worked hard their entire lives and became solid members of the middle class, and both were Hawkeye fans their entire lives. They spent money they didn't have to attend one football game a year when I was growing up. As they got older and could afford it, they had season tickets for decades, and we went with them on many road games as well. In 1985 my dad worked second shift in the factory, then drove directly to the city where I lived, picked me up, and we all went to the Ohio State game, the one that cost the Hawkeyes the national title.

Well, when my folks died, no one wrote articles about their Hawkeye fandom. Nobody wrote about how they scrimped and saved to buy tickets to see Iowa play and, eventually, to even give a little to the Iowa Athletic Dept. Most Iowa fans are like my parents, people who are devoted fans who spend their hard-earned money in a variety of ways to support the Hawkeyes. But the articles aren't written about those people, yet Kinnick Stadium and Carver-Hawkeye Arena would be pretty damn empty without them.

To our departed parents, Hawkeye fans to the core.

Even when trying to honor your parents, you have to try and make a political slant JFC...

God bless your Mom and Dad Duke, and all those who made us Hawkeye fans.

Most people don't have the means to support Iowa athletics to the extent Will Moon did. It was very generous of him to support our sports teams as much as he did. He will be missed in Kinnick, as your parents are missed, my Dad too.

Yeah, the world is mostly made up of "ordinary" people. Your parents sound like they were great folks; I'm glad for you but I don't think bitterness fits.

Read his obituary yesterday. That guy was a hard worker since he was a kid. He certainly had a jump start with his parents starting the I80 business but he really expanded the business through hard work and learning the business from the ground up. Not only was he a huge Hawk but he gave generously to his community. He will be missed by his family, community and Hawk Nation.
