With Bellinger and Rice both slumping it's hard to see where the offense is gonna come from with this team.
Called it...though I wish I was wrong.
BTW, Among the 34 strikeouts by the Yankees during the first two games of this series (yeah that's right, friggin 34) the leaders are Goldschmidt with 7 and Bellinger with 5. And Goldschmidt's were 7 in 8 at bats.

Incredible. I wonder if it's ever been done before.
They followed up a 17 strike out game with another 17 strike out game.
And btw they could have won tonight's game too with even a halfway decent performance from the suddenly crappy Will Warren.
He's now in a real battle with Weathers for removal from the starting rotation when Fried returns in a short time.

The two Ws that are guaranteed Ls.

Playing like they don't care.

This is unwatchable.
A couple of observations from Thursday and the inability to make routine plays by professional baseball players...both Chisholm and Caballero make catches in short RF and LF with a runner on 3rd.
The runner never attempted to score, but BOTH guys miss the cutoff throwing towards home.
This is the kind of stuff I see when I watch my 9U grandson play.

Team looked pretty good with three straight over Washington going into the break. Hopeful for a strong start to the second half...with three games against the defending champions. And the pending return of Max Fried should help.
Not sure when/if we're gonna see Judge this season. And I think Stanton is done.
It would be a good idea to try to upgrade the bullpen too. And a catcher who could hit would be nice too.

Incredibly stupid decision by Boone in tonight's game to leave Cole in, only to have him give up the two-run homer to lose the game. I'm sure it did a lot to cement their friendship. But he gave away the game....and on a night when Tampa was losing a doubleheader.
Stupidity.

Yep. And that's not second guessing his decision. Hendrick was ready.

The other blunder was Grisham half azzing his baserunning and not going full blast to 2bd base and beyond.
Grisham's casual approach to baseball is maddening.

Is there any significant news on Judge?

I was thinking about the trade deadline. A trade that would never happen but would be a great one for the Yankees to put a sniffer out on- if the Mets really are serious about almost anyone available- Lindor and Torrens would be huge if they could ever pull it off.
when Judge gets back to this lineup- to add a guy like Lindor and then Torrens defense at C. Would be tough to beat.

Torrens is currently hitting .216 and Lindor .205.
The Yankees already have too many guys hitting for that type of average. They need an upgrade, not more of the same.

Torrens for defense. He actually gets clutch hits though. And you sound like some of tge Mets fans on Lindor. He always gets off slow and this year he is pretty much still on spring training time.

1. The Yankees problem with their current catcher is not defense. It's the fact that he's hitting .150.
2. When you say "He always gets off slow" you do realize that they're at game #100 of 162, right ?

Ok- you missed where I said Torrens has been clutch or the fact of the Lindor timeline.
Lindor has been a top 10 or better MVP finish for the past 2 years.
mat his worst over the next 3-4 years he would be a minimal 20/20 SS.
what do you currently have?

I asked this question a few months ago and haven't gotten any answers...why are Bird and Doval still on the roster?????

If Boone/Cashman are waiting to make those two guys look like good adds at last year's trade deadline, they're going to be waiting into eternity.

Jeebus.

I've been asking that question pretty much all year.
I think it's like when an NFL team keeps around a high draft pick that has already shown little chance of making a positive contribution to the team. They don't wanna admit their failure in choosing and signing the guy. Not everybody is as capable of admitting their mistakes as others are.

If Jones and Dominguez are used as trade bait, I imagine Cashman can get a significant upgrade over Bird and Doval.

Spencer Jones called up again by the Yankees. Strangely enough they have him batting third in the lineup.
Third ????

Max Fried is back. He looked great tonight.
That's a nice group of starters: Fried, Cole, Schlittler, Rodon, Warren.

Uh oh. The schedule does the Yankees no favors. ESPN currently has them ranked #5 in MLB.
Their next three series...all on the road...are against the Phillies ranked #7, the Cubs ranked #6, and the WhiteSox ranked #8.
That's a real tough road trip. Their bats better wake up.

I'm sure that the Yankees don't want to be saddled with Lindor's contract, they care about their payroll these days.

Knowing Stearns- he would eat much of the contract anyway…
Lindor has at least 3 years of very productive offense left in him, maybe more if he moves to a different position.
SS has been a killer for the Yankees for a while now and this is a win now team.
he would end up worth more than his contract if he fills that role and gets a championship.

Actually, if the Yankees can keep pitching shutouts like they've done the last two nights they may not need the offense to pick up much.

Lindor is hitting .228 this season and his ten-year contract pays him $34 million per. And he's injured again.
I'll bet every team wants some of that.

Not sure where he is injured again- he has actually been one of MLB’s Ironman over tge years. Anyway- Stanton is soon off the books. The money shouldn’t be the concern. The trade would never happen but he would be a great fit for the Yanks.
gotta say though- Yanks have some damn good starting pitching

I thought I read that he'd been injured the other day. Anyway, the Yankees have their next shortstop currently at AAA George Lombard Jr.
They have real needs at a number of other positions. They are not blowing a significant amount of their payroll on a guy who is having the type of year Lindor is having and may in fact be on the decline in his career...and at a position they're hoping to fill soon with their top minor league prospect.

The Mets have really fallen apart since the Soto signing. All Padre and Yankee fans warned you. Maybe eat some salary and dump him instead?

Then why did the Yankees nearly match the Mets offer falling a mere 5 mil less? Not to mention so many videos of Yankees fans going ballistic losing him to the Mets? Check back, I never wanted him and thought tying up that much money for that long in one player was a huge mistake. You for one I know hated the Stanton deal and rightly so.

I don't think the 5 mil made the difference. I heard it was the clothing allowance for Soto's mother that sealed the deal for the Mets.
BTW, Mets fans need to shut up. I'm hearing some people say that, given their huge payroll and lack of results, they may be the worst team dollar-for-dollar in MLB history.

LOL, it's a given that the Mets suck big time but who gives 2:poop: what you've been hearing. The biggest Mets troll on this board by far since very little happens here. I still love the game, still love my Mets and still love watching you cry every October. I was commenting to T2Kplus20 with an honest take and you, who couldn't figure out how to get on this site for nearly a year is making up for lost time, lol.

The Yanks got "close enough" to pretend they were actually making a legit offer. It was all for show. Nobody should have signed him for that crazy amount and years. It will likely go down as the worst contract in the history of sports. Seriously.....

First, it makes me feel so good for a fan of the Amazins to refer to me as the biggest Mets troll on this board. I've been working on that skill since 1962.
And also, that particular remark about the 2026 Mets being the worst MLB team dollar-for-dollar EVER is from an ESPN article that reviewed every MLB's season thus far. That's all they had to say about the Amazins this year.
You can see their point, can't you ?

100% YES, what else would you like me to say, lol. They suck this year and yes, if you started busting balls in 1962, that didn't take much skill, l

Yeah, okay you keep telling yourself that. Yankees fans were thinking Mantle/Maris for years to come. I know you didn't want Soto but 3/4 of your fan base were going nuts.

You obviously don't understand how little your opinion matters to this Yankees fan. But go ahead...keep talking.
If you only understood how much joy every Mets loss and all of their fans' moaning provides me then you might be able to comprehend why I ain't gonna stop ragging on the Amazins.
The worst MLB team dollar-for-dollar EVER. Sweet.
