Glad we’re finally closing in the south end zone. The renovations have been good over the years, but it seems we’re still way behind our SEC brothers.

To have gone all these years having an open end zone has done us no favors. If we’re being honest, because of the open end zone, the stadium reeks of a small time football school. How many recruits have we lost over the years? And YES stadiums matter to recruits. Trust me on that. We know for a fact Dudy Noble attracts top recruits. Works the same way in football. Maybe with this new project Davis Wade will finally project the image of a major college football program.

Sorry for the rant. But I feel like this should have been a priority years ago.

Nothing has been announced. I just think the recent version of the "Campus Master Plan" has the South Endzone bowled in with premium seating, suites, etc. About 15 years ago, they released one of those things that had us getting a new basketball arena that looked like a giant comma.

Seems like I remember premium seating being mentioned in the last email about tickets, but I assumed it was just a few permanent seats behind the existing field-level seats. If you want to see the game, I'm not sure why you'd buy field-level seats in the end zone. You can't see a thing from there.

We had tickets for the West Side Upper against Troy State. As soon as we traversed the ramps and made it to our seat, the tornado sirens went off. We then went to the union and then eventually left.

this was done to keep the rough and rowdy from disturbing the club level. Why didn't they build a natural walk way there or built the club level up another 4-5 ft.

Do you have friends who are going to buy all those bowled in seats? Do you expect fans to leave East and West side seats and trade for end zone seats?

The plans have been out, but I have not seen where we have the $$$$ to actually start the work.

I remember one afternoon game some years ago, before club level was built, I think with Auburn, and the real temperature was >100. It was pretty miserable - hot, sun in your eyes. But we had good seats.

I think many would leave the upper decks for the endzone if/when it ever happens.....and pay more for the seats .

This stadium stuff isn't rocket science. Close and intimate is always best. I'd be willing to bet our stadium footprint is wider than Tennessee's, and they have 40K more capacity.

Well yeah. Because the field is at normal ground level and the stadium was built vertically around it. If they had dug up the damn Indian burial ground when the thing sat 33000, they could have sunk the field 40 feet and added seats between the sideline and the current stands and never had to add upper deck. Shortsighted for an engineering school. My guess is Old Miss probably grads as many engineers as State now with them having. 5000 more students! Where is Foglesong when you need him?

Where will the home fans sit while the west side is being torn down and rebuilt? Lawn chairs behind the team bench. I doubt the side switch would be Permanent but the press box would definitely have to be rebuilt on the east side. Now when they rebuild the west side, they could put a new press box up there as well and have the visitors press box on the east and the home on the west. But they have to displace the home fans for at least 1 full season.

Need to chairback and increase aisle depth of the entire stadium except for student seats bringing the capacity down to about 45-50K. Then we can add the south endzone and bring it back up to about 55K. Comfort and premium seating should be the focus, not capacity.

In my experience 15-year master plans are generally good for about 5 years before another one is done. But they’re very lucrative for consultants. It’s a total crapshoot if the projects that will actually be done are in the master plan or not.

40 feet? Do you think rainwater drainage might be a problem? No, it shouldn't be lowered even 6 inches. Talk about short sighted.
