What do you guys think? Is the WNBA and their commissioner doing a bad job with Clark?

I've watched her play for years and I understand how she can get under other player's skin. But does that mean she should be treated as she's being treated?

Opinions?

Commish isn’t going great but she’s also in a top spot. Clark pushes the limit with the amount of flopping, whining and complaining she does. She makes Sha Alexander look like Charles Oakley.

Right or Wrong....the league/players are doing themselves a great disservice by knocking Clark down (both literally and figuratively)...they would lose a TON of interest and exposure if Clark were to bolt for say, an alternative opportunity across the pond.

Not saying she will....that I have no idea....but she is the golden goose....and they are slaying her....bad move.

Despite Kareem’s opinion the WNBA wasn’t what it is today until C. Clark arrived. Similar to LeBron, she’s been drawing sold out crowds ever since she was in HS. If she were to retire tomorrow the league would go back to being irrelevant once again. WNBA & their petty jealousy is ruining a generational opportunity. By the way, LeBron is quite the flopper & complainer too but the NBA was smart enough to build their brand around him.

The WNBA Commissioner has no clue how to run the league and continues to allow conduct towards Clark to escalate. There is deep jealousy and resentment towards Clark for many reasons. I think those reasons are weak, petty and self-defeating, but its up to the officials and the League to hold people accountable for their actions. To date that has not happened and that's why the conduct continues.

If I was the HC or Owner of Indiana, I'd go old school and get a serious goon on my team. Find the biggest, meanest, nastiest player to go in and kick anyone's *** who pulls those dirty shots on Clark. If the league isn't going to protect her, the team must do it. It's not about Clark, the individual, its about protecting your #1 asset so your team can win.

I just saw on the ESPN ticker that it happened again last night. On a drive to the basket a defender kneed her in the thigh causing a contusion that affected her the rest of the game.

Worst part though, no whistle.

The worst part... not surprising

Caitlin Clark suffered a quadriceps contusion during the Indiana Fever’s 88-75 loss to the Golden State Valkyries. She was kneed in the leg by Golden State's Kiah Stokes on a drive to the basket in the second quarter, leading to a heated confrontation with referee Gerda Gatling because the foul was not called.

Reaction and Postgame Comments

Following the game, Clark expressed her frustration over the missed call to reporters, stating: "I get kneed right in the quad. That hurts. The ref can't miss that, and then I have to play with a contusion in my leg the rest of the game. It's ridiculous."

This is kinda the dilemma. Was it a foul, probably, but it wasn’t some egregious offense. They brushed knees. But Clark freaks the hell out. These tantrums are becoming a nightly occurrence.

Caitlin is incredible offensively but is a bad defender. She does not have the speed to defend most of the guards in the league. She gets beat and fouls opposing players consistently and every other coach has figured that out and they attack her when she is on the floor. She complains way too much and flops way too much which probably contributes to her not getting calls.

Makes her very unlikable and the rest of the players watching the unlikable girl getting all of the attention makes them jealous and some lash out against her. It's frustrating to watch and it boggles the mind how much the other players seem to hate her even though she is 100% the reason they are all making more money now.

The WNBA refs are atrocious though and just incredibly inconsistent so a lot of this is on them.

I agree with this and I am a big Clark fan, love watching her play and think she has been treated awfully by the league. However, her tantrums are taking away from her case. I think her frustration level has been a problem this year.

It's the best part of her game.
her passes on a break are always the right choice and she hits them in stride with catchable passes. Of course, i see them on youtube and doubt they link many bad passes.

Her fans are like swiftees, and i think they dont help cc's cause, just piss off the opposition more

i am kind of shocked, but the preseason hoopla on her pre sr yr got me to watch, and she won me over. Thought Sue Bird was terrific, taurasi too, but never watched them. I do watch cc sometimes.

I enjoyed watching Bird and DT in college so tuned into the WNBA when they started playing but the level of play was honestly just so bad, it was hard to watch. It's much better now so I do enjoy watching here and there.

Clark could be a soccer player with her tendency to flop

Compare the stats, play, importance and leadership of Clark and Page Beuckers. Then compare their backgrounds and personal life. Them compare how they are treated by segments of fans and players Just sayin.

i could ask anyone here who are "those that paved the way" and most people would have trouble naming 3.

Human prejudice has been with us throughout history. Unfortunately that will never change.

A shame we just can't get past those that are different than us. Some of the comments I read at the end of the stories in the NY Post are just brutal and hateful.

Another issue in the middle of this, white vs black, gay vs straight

It's tough since Caitlin is so special in her court vision and shooting range, that people built her up that she will be the best player that the W has ever seen but the rest of her game is lacking so it's natural to wonder why she gets more attention than any other player.

If I were a GM worried about winning, I would take a lot of guards over Cailin today. If I cared more about revenue, I'd pick Clark.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's inaccurate to say Caitlin would not be as popular if she were black but that really isn't her fault as much as the other players seem to want to blame her for it.

Seems to me that the league likes her a lot more than Caitlin.
Paige played with a lot of black players and is gay. Caitlin played with a lot of white players and is straight.

Caitlin is more popular but Paige is the better player, so that probably adds to the jealousy around the league.

I think you summed it up pretty fairly and accurately. Compounding this is the ineffectiveness of their Commissioner.

Yes, her rabid fans are-- in a weird way--her worst enemy.
