2026 World Cup - General Discussion & Non-USA teams thread

[LionJim]

Argentina is peppering Pickford now.

Yeah, relentless. Dang. Disappointing.

[Tom McAndrew]

Argentina hits the post, and then scores in stoppage time!!!! 2-1, Argentina. Unbelievable

Lautaro Martinez is a game changer every time he comes on

[BobPSU92]

England made the mistake of taking the lead. That woke up Argentina.

Lautaro Martinez is a game changer every time he comes on

Agreed. Begs the question...why not start him?

I’m not sure. He hasn’t had a good season. But it’s amazing how well he does getting on so late. It’s not like they’re subbing him after 60 minutes.

[Chumboshifko1]

Disgusting.

[LionJim]

A good match. Hard loss for England.

Good match thread, appreciated.

How happy will Argentina be when they find out they’re going to NEW. JERSEY. ? Maybe England were smart losing.

[Tgar]

And that is how it’s done.

oh, and BTW, the White Out is nice, this is insane.

[KingLando]

Tough loss for the Brits

Terrible.

[DELion]

Great match. Messi too much for England.

[LionsAndBears]

Thoughts...England stopped attacking after going up 1-0 and it killed them. They gave Argentina all the possessions at the end and Argentina is just too good to allow them to keep possession in your half.

[Bwifan]

Messi is just unreal. The GOAT. He shows up in big matches and when his team needs him.

[Thus Spake Mainer]

Bellingham's name was hardly mentioned during the broadcast. He came up small?

[PSU Mike]

So they get the Falklands?

[manatree]

[Grant Green]

How about MacAllister hitting the post twice!
Crazy finish. The cross by Messi was perfect.

[Lil Nicky Scarfo]

Argentina is so savage when they turn the screws. Every guy hunts the ball and ups their game. Their intensity is impressive.

Winners win.

I said before the game, I thought England would have to be offensively aggressive to have an opportunity. They became complacent after going ahead.

[DaytonRickster]

So they get the Falklands?

Was that on the table for this match?

They sat in the low block over half the game it felt like....hard to look great as a 10 when you're parked in front of your CB's. Just like in football you don't pack it in that early and that was all Tuchel.

[Binder74]

Your comment made me look, and wow, I didn't realize the DH was dropped during COVID, then not put in fully until 2022. I would have guessed 2010...can't believe we still had pitchers batting in 2021.

Pitchers haven't batted in decades. Most of them just took their time in the batters box and and looked embarrassing. Only about 5% could do something useful.

88% possession time for Argentina after the England goal.

[LionJim]

Tough loss for the Brits and @LionJim.

Fixed, ffs.

I had been wondering about that. Sounds about right.

CJF wouldn’t have been concerned. EXPLOSIVE PLAYS!!!

Regardless of the sport, the prevent defense sucks.

Lautaro Martinez is a game changer every time he comes on

He’s the captain of my beloved Inter Milan. Forza Inter and Lautaro!
