And hello to the Brandon Walker College Football Show (on the UR feed for your convenience).

It's all outlined at the end of today's pod. Basically Brandon wants to host a solo show. Kayce is all for it. I fully expect it to be wildly successful for Brandon. Looking forward to seeing how big he can make this.

Clearly they hate each other and couldn't get along any with each other any longer

BFW is positioned himself to take over for Finebaum when his ears finally get caught in a tornado and he’s unable to continue. You heard it here first.

In reference to Finebaum, we likely all wanted to like the Finebaum show, but standing in the way of that is Paaaawwwwllll. He's just a stick in the mud. What this has going for it is that it will be incredibly entertaining, and BFW is always a good listen, and he is one of us (one of us, one of us).
The big difference is Paaaawwllll has no talent. He may have at one point, but as of late he just rides the coattails of crazy Alabama and Auburn fans. Brandon has talent and doesn’t need callers to make his show. They are just the icing on the cake.

Paul is not very likeable and his takes are often garbage but some of his regular callers are what really ruins the show and are intolerable. Hopefully Brandon won't let callers try to actually take over his show. Seriously, when I do watch Finebaum, I have to change the channel every time Legend comes on the line. I literally can not stand listening to that guy.

I remember driving back from Tampa, after that disastrous Outback Bowl against Iowa, listening to the More Cowbell (I think) show when all of that nonsense happened that eventually led him to Barstool.

Had to look up the date, that was January 2019.

Congrats, BFW. Will Walker Brandon the Third make an appearance?

I guess I missed this, what was the nonsense??

It was 7 years ago and in the time since, I got married (all sorts of things I have to keep track of now) and have had a lot of beer along the way, but this is what I recall.

In his live postgame show he was lamenting the loss to the whitest and slowest team in America, Iowa. The next day on his show (or continuing since his postgame show) Hawkeye fans were calling him racist, contacting his sponsors, and I believe attempting to get his wife fired from her job. I think he lost some of his sponsors temporarily and some completely. I don't think all those details were disclosed. Someone, closer to Brandon probably knows.

In my head it was a few weeks or months later, in the betting section of the show, he got into heated debates with Iowa fans and self-appointed College Football gurus. It circulated in the sports gambling space and Portnoy caught wind of it. He had Brandon on one of his shows and then invited him to NY, I think with the original intent to seize the moment of publicity and to make fun of this "rustic" rube from provincial Mississippi.

Brandon turned it into an opportunity of a lifetime, seizing the moment himself; and it all started with Morehead's inexplicable bowl loss and Iowa fans.

@dawgstudent feel free to correct any and all of this, but it's how I remember it.

Close. But not right.

The Iowa thing happened around the Outback Bowl when Moorhead somehow figured out a way to lose to the slowest, whitest team in America despite having the best defense we will ever have. In the postgame, I called them the slowest, whitest team in America. An Iowa content creator who's an absolute ******* clipped it, an Iowa message board posted my phone number and by six hours after the game, I had 500 phone calls and the nastiest messages ever. They then contacted Gondolier Italian restaurant, Maroon and Co and others and demanded they cut me loose. Gondolier did it, but four days later called me and begged back. They also called Itawamba CC and tried to get my wife fired, and Itawamba told them to **** off.

Three months later the Barstool thing was completely unrelated. I was hosting a gambling show for a company I won't name. That company's Twitter admin disparaged Dave Portnoy on Twitter. He got pissed and I was the next person to go live from that company, so Barstool fans descended upon the livestream and attempted to tear me to pieces. Dave liked the way I handled myself and to spite that company, he hired me.

The next day I emailed him and said you don't even know what you just hired.

And seven years later I'm still amazing.

He doesn’t hide his hatred for Iowa fans and I’ve heard him make mention of it but never knew the story. Thank you. I was very much into message boards and sports radio at that time but I’m a layer comer to podcasts for some inexplicable reason. The moment I started them, I dropped sports radio permanently and never looked back. I remember brandon posting here but did know of him and which poster he was until I had been listening to Unnecessary Roughness for a while before I put it together (i know I’m no Sherlock lol)

I want to know if the Brad Locke person is the person from the news paper (Tupelo I believe) that he never missed an opportunity to take a victory lap on!

Brandon post here in the last couple years about doing some construction at his house and I emailed him about being his plumber but I never heard back. He’s definitely still out there somewhere because he “asked the pack”

Brandon - it is awesome to see you posting on this board. It is incredible to finally have some MSU fandom leading the the national college media elite. I remember meeting you & your daughter at halftime of the Outback Bowl and hearing about the meltdown of the Iowa cult on the way
home from Tampa.

I have been an avid follower of Unnecessary Roughness from the beginning. The dynamic with you & Kayce has been incredible. Good Luck with the new podcast. I feel certain that you will continue to dominate.

Yea, not sure about this. We already have this concept on the air and its called the Finebaum show.

or its called the Pat McAfee Show, or the Rich Eisen Show, or the Herd w/ Colin Cowherd, The Dan Patrick Show. He didn't say he wouldn't have some clown on there answering the phone and cracking jokes w/ him, or if he did I missed it.

I found it on my external Hard Drive. I may have an old relic from the More Cowbell days at the house. I will see if I can find it when I get to the house.

Hell yeah! Are you the gee-tarist?
Man I wish I could claim that masterpiece. I’m the type of person that does not delete a digital file.

I thought I had a More Cowbell sticker somewhere and I remember seeing it not that long ago. It’s probably one of those situations where I put it somewhere where I wouldn’t loose it and now I can’t find it.

Good lord I remember watching this all unfold in real time, and it is still hilarious. It takes him about 30 seconds to realize something is going on and the reactions are 17'ing genius. His response to those dipshits shows why Dave wanted to bring him on.

Good for BW, and really good for us. At least we have one national guy who won't shitt on us daily.

Keep on keepin on, brother. Excited for you.
