I did bet on the 2020 UGA game and I think UGA was favored by 24 points. Thought they would surely cover. Fooled me.

I bet anywhere from a six-pack of tall boys to a 30 pack everytime State plays a core group friend's team (Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, & the 4th one is neutral).

We don't see each other often enough, so when we do & offer to pay up we usually tell each other don't worry about it.
If it's in public we at least buy the first few rounds, etc.

However, if that neutral sonuvva bltch is keeping a tally; as the State fan, I've gotta be in the red.

I hit 14 of the first 15 team parlay several years ago I had bet 300 to win almost 1 million dollars. I needed Tennessee to cover by 6 and they freaking lost to some podunk school. I hit the wall with my fist dislocated my wrist and put a huge hole in the living room and was in the doghouse with my wife for a month!

Too damned many to count - the most recent one that I remember was Michigan -6.5 in the NCAA Championship Game this April, Michigan won 69-63. The led by 9 with the ball with 53 seconds left in the game.

Lost big ( $1000) in a poker game in Phoeba to the Mckees in the 80’s. Had 24 hours to pay up. Barely made it and haven’t done any significant gambling since. I liked breathing too much

Not really a bad beat but I had 200 bucks (as a college kid) on Mississippi State -3.5 against Tulane in the Super Dome. If anyone remembers State was up at least two TDs in the 4th quarter and went on to lose the game with 6 seconds left. My cowbell has a dent in it to this day from pounding it on a rail in the Super Dome.

I’ve never bet on sports because I don’t trust myself. I probably will place a couple small football bets this fall when I’m at the Greenbrier for the basketball game just to make it more interesting to watch.

The closest I ever got to betting was 2018 against Kentucky. I was so convinced we were going to shatter the spread that I wanted to put $2000 on us. Didn’t get around to it, thank goodness.

Not really sports betting, but I do play poker. Sat down at a table a few years ago with someone who looked familiar. Second hand in I get pocket aces. Two other guys go all in by the turn, and I’m all in as well. Won $1400 on the hand playing 1/3 No Limit Hold ‘Em. Right after I won, I realized the guy who looked familiar was Adam Morrison. I played another two hours and walked away with $1900 that day

I'm not a big sports gambler so I don't have any good stories but would be curious of yours.

I hit a 10 play parlay. $10 into $5000 one college football Saturday in the early 00s.

I remember the last play was Kansas +30 something against Nebraska in a late kick on their Fox Sports Regional network. This was before streaming was common so I could not find the game. I finally found an audio only stream and I listened to that game like it was Jack calling the Sugar Bowl. Kansas covered and I won.

Bet the entire $5000 across the board on the NFL early games the next day and went 0-8. Did not win a single bet. Dumb college kid deposited $1000 and tried to win some back and by the end of Monday Night football, that was gone.

after deciding I was slightly better than others in our dorm poker game, I thought I was good enough to go to Philadelphia. After the first hand I played in, an old guy at the table started laughing at me and requested I play the next time he’s in a hand. At that point, I was smart enough to leave and not play poker at a casino again.

I probably trained 100 hours before my first time in a casino. Completely different approach to playing than anything I’d ever seen in casual games

In college I was lucky to have $40.00 in my cking account. So I did not bet sports. One of my good friends at State did bet a lot. He had a shoe box under his bed at his apartment full of hundred and twenty dollar bills. Had to be at least a couple thousand in that box. To me that was a lot of money back then.

Same guy‘s older brother came to friends apartment from their home town and was sleeping on the couch for like a week. Asked friend what was his brother doing staying. He said he was hiding from his hometown book’y. He owed and was waiting on his pay check before he went back home.

Not a big gambler either, and getting burned pretty quickly is probably a reason why.

I was a student at state around the turn of the millennium. Back then it was all done by local bookies, usually students that you knew or had some connection to. My roommate was always betting with a guy, so I decided to give it a shot.

LSU was -3 against UAB at Tiger Stadium. Easy money, right? Well, it wasn't. UAB beat LSU that day, I lost my weekend beer money, and I was done with gambling.

Had the pats -2.5 a few years ago vs the raiders and they decided to lateral the ball back to Mac Jones instead of settling for overtime

I bet South Carolina -3.5 against State in 2011. South Carolina was winning 14-10 with less than 10 seconds left and took an intentional safety as time expired. So, we lost the game, and I lost the bet. Brutal.

I had convinced all of my buddies to take the bet. We were celebrating the win while skipping through the concourse when we saw it happen on one of the TVs.

When I was at State, a former high school golf teammate and I would occasionally go out and challenge people to $20 a hole. We usually did pretty well.

There was one guy we knew who was awful at golf but loved to bet. We figured we were about to make some easy money, so we raised it to $50 a hole.

Everything was going great through the first five holes. We won all five. Then a rainstorm hit, so we went into the clubhouse. He and his partner started drinking, and I still do not know what they put in his drink, but he came back out looking like a young Tiger Woods.

He won the final 13 holes. His partner kept bringing him more drinks, and he kept hitting ridiculous shots.

We lost $400 that day, which was a lot of money for a college kid.

I call BS or You forgot the sarcastericks. No way in hell someone bets $300 on a 15 team parlay unless you have money to burn, in which case you wouldn't be worried about a 15 team parlay to begin with.

I had Michigan State +5 against Wisconsin in the 2015 Big10 tournament. The Spartans led by 11 with 7 minutes to go.
Lost 80-69 in overtime. I scored the same amount of points as Michigan State did in overtime (spoiler - it was 0).

I’ve never been big on gambling. Had never placed a bet on a sporting event until several years ago. After watching Saban and Bama humiliate us year after year, I finally decided I was turning away free money. Bama easily covered and I won a little bit. Took a little of the pain away from losing to them yet again.

One of my gameday rituals is to look at the Vegas spreads on Saturday a.m. before the games start and then to watch for scores about 10:00 that night. If baffles me how many time the 1/2 point they add to the spread comes into play and how often they are right. Also the over/unders, they are close so many times. Yeah, they lose some but they can't lose many and afford to build Ivory Towers and give away free rooms in them so, let the bettor beware

But you learned a valuable lesson. Never, ever, ever bet on Mississippi State to win.

Gambled on football in my early 20s and won a little the first few weekends, then lost badly enough that all of my monthly payments that month accrued late fees. That pretty much cured my desire to gamble.

Too many to name, usually the last game on a parlay loses.

Best win i've had is us covering on the last play during our bowl game after Mike died.

what is $300 dollars...I am going to put 50K on State to win six this year ...so I guess I do have money to burn.
