From the brief amount of time I've paid attention to them:

A feeder program
Find a way to get kids to show up to the summer program

I think the other part of the conversation is that the numbers for football are down in general.

A couple of .500 seasons and a playoff berth in the last 5 years is better than "rarely competitive".

I think they were too hasty. Not sure where they think it will be easier except the U8. The SWP may be a good fit, three 6 team divisions.

I think it's going to be more of a tossup than people think it will be. Obviously, Naperville North should be favored to win the conference, but it can play out in any random order.

I do wonder which conference decided to break the merger off. It seemed like a good fit for the SWSC but not the DVC.

If you put Morris in the conference instead of Dekalb I'd put them in the black in your mock up and move WV to the white.

There is going to be some bad blood between NN, NV, and the rest of the DVC.

After all, people seem to forget that years ago, it was NV who wanted to be in the DVC so badly that they dragged the other two Valley schools along. Furthermore, the conference always seems to do what is convenient for NN.

Why NN and not NC? It seems as though you are saying the conference is blaming NV for the break up. But NC is the only remaining school from the prior iteration. So NC is blaming NV and NN somehow?

Throw Central in there as well if you want but again, NV was the one that wanted to be in the DVC about a decade ago and forced the other two Valley's to come along.

Dekalb would be top dog in the Upstate 8 for sure. In almost every sport. I always thought the DVC was a weird switch for them. Same with Lake Park. If you have Lake Park, Dekalb and Huntley leave their conferences for the Upstate 8 that turns into a much better conference immediately.

I think West Aurora is stronger athletic school than DeKalb. (damn, that's hard to say).

I think the Interstate 8 would be a good fit for Dekalb. They would be the biggest school in the conference, but competitively and geographically it makes sense. They're close to Sycamore, Rochelle, and Kaneland with LP and Ottawa having an easy trip up route 39. Longest trip would be Dekalb to Morris. Competitively, there would be years where Dekalb would be in line with Morris, Sycamore, Rochelle, or Kaneland.

As a Naperville North fan/supporter, I've always been of the opinion that Dekalb has no business being in the DVC. If the rumors of them wanting to get out are really true, you have to wonder what the future of the conference is. There is no use in playing just four non-conference games, and if Dekalb gets out, you have to wonder if the Valley schools start following.

In all seriousness would love to see Morris replace NV in week 2 for Minooka. Zero chance they win every year like in years past, but could complete with their former Little 7 rivals for one game per year.

The last thing in the world Minooka needs to do is play/compete anymore with Morris. That was way in the past and they need to aim considerably higher as in say a LW East or other 8A powers. Too many Chanooka people still feel Morris is a rival.....and as long as that mentality exist....not good for the Nook in my opinion. They've invested millions in athletics and the last thing they should do is go backwards.

Fair point. I was definitely being nostalgic and just threw out Minooka, but I'd love to see Morris play a game with any of the old Little 7 teams. Oswego was by far a bigger rival for Morris, but with the level they're at right now that game would be a blood bath.
