I think the other part of the conversation is that the numbers for football are down in general. From the brief amount of time I've paid attention to them:
A feeder program
Find a way to get kids to show up to the summer program
A couple of .500 seasons and a playoff berth in the last 5 years is better than "rarely competitive".And weren't they 2-7, 5-5, 4-4, 0-9 dating back to like 2022?
They have record breaking youth football numbers just a few miles west.I think the other part of the conversation is that the numbers for football are down in general.
Some of those are one district high schools where said building gets all the talent coming in from the middle schools. They have record breaking youth football numbers just a few miles west.
Not the program I'm referring to. Oswego Youth Tackle Football funnels into two HS's and has no middle school program. Some of those are one district high schools where said building gets all the talent coming in from the middle schools.
This listing (not necessarily the order) is a reminder of the short shelf life (last 2 seasons) of the SWSC/DVC merger. I do not sense any regrets about this divorce unless I am missing something? So from what Im gathering the DVC should go like this:
NN
NC
Dekalb
WV
MV
NV

I think they were too hasty. Not sure where they think it will be easier except the U8. The SWP may be a good fit, three 6 team divisions. This listing (not necessarily the order) is a reminder of the short shelf life (last 2 seasons) of the SWSC/DVC merger. I think it's going to be more of a tossup than people think it will be. Obviously, Naperville North should be favored to win the conference, but it can play out in any random order. So from what Im gathering the DVC should go like this:
NN

Dekalb

I do wonder which conference decided to break the merger off. It seemed like a good fit for the SWSC but not the DVC.This listing (not necessarily the order) is a reminder of the short shelf life (last 2 seasons) of the SWSC/DVC merger. SWP/DVC merger is interesting but the question is, are the Oswego's and Yorkville willing to let Naperville North and Neuqua into the conference?I think they were too hasty. Not sure where they think it will be easier except the U8. The SWP may be a good fit, three 6 team divisions.

Is there some bad blood I dont know about? Last I heard the DVC had invited the Oswego schools and Bolingbrook into the DVC (possibly for football only at least for Brook). Why just NN & NV? Also the conference seems fairly stable, not sure theyd want to do anything. Only reason we were let in is because West Aurora left.SWP/DVC merger is interesting but the question is, are the Oswego's and Yorkville willing to let Naperville North and Neuqua into the conference?

Best I could come up with best on east/west dividing for a three division mega conference. Each team plays the 5 others in the division plus one cross over from each of the two other divisions and two non conference games, with the disclaimer that Morris gets to be one of the non conference games on a rotating basis.
I hated when we played those 3 teams. Is there some bad blood I dont know about? Honestly, I dont like that set up at all. Cant have Plainfield C and Joliet C in the same division with Romeoville who has been equally bad at times in recent years.
Only way it should happen is if they do competitive level divisions.I hated when we played those 3 teams.
The Red would be a beast of a conference.Only way it should happen is if they do competitive level divisions.

I just went straight geographically, plus they're in the same division now. I would remove Dekalb, they're too much of an outlier. If anything they should be in a conference with the Rockford schools. Is there some bad blood I dont know about? Don't hate it but I feel like you need balance and not just putting the best teams together. I think there's some in between our mock ups and every 5 years or so the divisions should be reevaluated and adjusted accordingly.Only way it should happen is if they do competitive level divisions.

If we exchanged Dekalb for Morris which division do they go in and if not the White who do they displace?Don't hate it but I feel like you need balance and not just putting the best teams together. Someone has to be the underdog each time out. We will shoulder that burden.I'm proud of you for putting your Beloved in the top division
If you put Morris in the conference instead of Dekalb I'd put them in the black in your mock up and move WV to the white. If we exchanged Dekalb for Morris which division do they go in and if not the White who do they displace?

There is going to be some bad blood between NN, NV, and the rest of the DVC.Is there some bad blood I dont know about? Why NN and not NC? It seems as though you are saying the conference is blaming NV for the break up. But NC is the only remaining school from the prior iteration. So NC is blaming NV and NN somehow? There is going to be some bad blood between NN, NV, and the rest of the DVC.
After all, people seem to forget that years ago, it was NV who wanted to be in the DVC so badly that they dragged the other two Valley schools along. Furthermore, the conference always seems to do what is convenient for NN.
Throw Central in there as well if you want but again, NV was the one that wanted to be in the DVC about a decade ago and forced the other two Valley's to come along. Why NN and not NC? They werent a good fit in the 1st place. Maybe they can grab Huntley and approach the U8DeKalb is alreadt looking to get out of the DVC
Dekalb would be top dog in the Upstate 8 for sure. In almost every sport. I always thought the DVC was a weird switch for them. Same with Lake Park. If you have Lake Park, Dekalb and Huntley leave their conferences for the Upstate 8 that turns into a much better conference immediately. They werent a good fit in the 1st place. I think West Aurora is stronger athletic school than DeKalb. (damn, that's hard to say).Dekalb would be top dog in the Upstate 8 for sure. In almost every sport. I think the Interstate 8 would be a good fit for Dekalb. They would be the biggest school in the conference, but competitively and geographically it makes sense. They're close to Sycamore, Rochelle, and Kaneland with LP and Ottawa having an easy trip up route 39. Longest trip would be Dekalb to Morris. Competitively, there would be years where Dekalb would be in line with Morris, Sycamore, Rochelle, or Kaneland.Dekalb would be top dog in the Upstate 8 for sure. In almost every sport. As a Naperville North fan/supporter, I've always been of the opinion that Dekalb has no business being in the DVC. If the rumors of them wanting to get out are really true, you have to wonder what the future of the conference is. There is no use in playing just four non-conference games, and if Dekalb gets out, you have to wonder if the Valley schools start following.DeKalb is alreadt looking to get out of the DVC
The last thing in the world Minooka needs to do is play/compete anymore with Morris. That was way in the past and they need to aim considerably higher as in say a LW East or other 8A powers. Too many Chanooka people still feel Morris is a rival.....and as long as that mentality exist....not good for the Nook in my opinion. They've invested millions in athletics and the last thing they should do is go backwards.Interesting, is this the only boundary conference in the state? What is their connection to the CCL?
In all seriousness would love to see Morris replace NV in week 2 for Minooka. Zero chance they win every year like in years past, but could complete with their former Little 7 rivals for one game per year.

Fair point. I was definitely being nostalgic and just threw out Minooka, but I'd love to see Morris play a game with any of the old Little 7 teams. Oswego was by far a bigger rival for Morris, but with the level they're at right now that game would be a blood bath. The last thing in the world Minooka needs to do is play/compete anymore with Morris.
