How is our bullpen looking? I don’t want to harp on negatives but the last 2 years of Lemonis and O’Connor’s first year has been the absolute worst bullpens I recall since watching MSU baseball.

Glad to hear the starters are looking solid. Hopefully they stay healthy and exceed expectations.

I would venture a guess that Stone isn’t far out of the Top 30 either.

Also Bauer and Miller are potential first rounders in 2028.
I think Stone is a bit underrated by our fans. Yes, he wasn't perfect or dominant by any stretch, but when you actually watch him pitch the talent does jump out at you.

Obviously, he needs a little polish and development, but I see why he is getting some 1st/2nd round grades. I would not be totally shocked if he makes a big jump this offseason and pushes RM for that saturday spot.

Seeing we added Landon Stump a starter from UCLA. Started 13 games including ours with 18 total appearances. This was his start against us:

Junior Landon Stump started on the mound and went 3.1 innings. He allowed four hits for two runs and three strikeouts.

After posting a 6.80 earned run average as a freshman, Stump whittled his ERA down to 5.02 for last year’s UCLA squad that made it to the College World Series. This season, Stump saw his ERA decrease down to 4.12 over 18 appearances that included 13 starts. The 54.2 innings pitched in 2026 for Stump was the fourth-most for the Bruins this season. The 6’3” pitcher struck out 43 strikeouts and allowed six home runs over the course of the season.

I think he was UCLA’s Sunday starter most of the year. He started the game against us in Arlington.

Feels like a middle relief or spot starter type arm for us. Essentially the role that Stone began the year in this past season.

They did bring in a few transfer bullpen arms but we’ll need returning guys like Bauer and the two Maddox’s to improve as well. Bringing in several talented freshman arms, maybe one or two of them can be good enough to contribute right away.

Starters are solid no matter how good they look in mid July. Health is all that can hold this staff back and Lemonis is no longer relevant to this team.
