It'll take a lot more than proximity for me to buy in on that. The father of a good friend was at Duke University Hospital in the cardiac unit where his wife worked as a doctor. He had finished his stress test a few minutes earlier and just dropped like a tree. One of the best cardiology departments in the country, they had him on the table in seconds, he was gone before he hit the ground. Sometimes it just happens.

There was a wiki I think that showed all the conflicts the USoA has been in since the founding and the US has been in some sort of conflict nearly every year. Most are small. Since WW2 we have been in an era of Pax Americana. There has not been another global war.
We have the reserve currency. We are the chief country of NATO. We ensure the rules based global order which allows economic prosperity. (Not always a fan of this when euroweenies try to create some nonsense)
These things among others have led us to becoming the #1 country militarily and economically (GDP.) For me America First means maintaining this dominance.

Supporting Israel with .01% of our GDP is not a problem. They are willing to get off the "welfare" and buy from us with their money. I am all for it. Sell them what we would sell to NATO and require congress and POTUS to agree if anything needed to be cut off.

I've skimmed the thread, so excuse me if I missed it, but what is the take of the normal South Carolinians about who the governor appoints to fill out the term? Will he pick someone who was in the primary in order to give them a leg up? Would he pick someone who states they will fill out the term, and then politely step away?
