anybody notice the “media” and foreign WC fans whining we are the “only country that call football soccer” conveniently ignoring that so does Canada? Nobody seems to complain about them.

But I don’t care if we start calling soccer football too.

we can start calling our football “more interesting football” just to piss if everyone else!
Likely because Canada is fairly irrelevant in the world of soccer or futbol.

This should be great fun to watch (I hope). I root for England as my 2nd team, but I've really enjoyed watching Haaland and Norway, too, so I won't be too upset if they win.

Announcers "new" word of the WC: Fizzed or fizzing in reference to how hard passes, especially along the ground "fizz" on their way to the recipient. I barely recall hearing this term before this WC, but they all use it now.

Are you hot on her or something ? She’s disgusting IMO
Try reading my posts. They've been almost completely about her music, which is 98% of what matters to me from a musical artist and she's the #1 selling female artist of all time with a worldwide smash #1 album out now. I couldn't give a rat's *** about whether she's "hot" or not - same way with male artists. Some of you are way overfocused on what female artists look like, IMO.

Extra time. They guys that have been on for ~104 minutes must be gassed in this sauna. I could see some mistakes being made in the next 30 minutes leading to a goal (like the Norwegian keeper made a few minutes ago that almost gave a goal to England). Would rather not see PK's.

Hoping for a Bellingham finish.

Well, we got the mistake, as the Norwegian keeper spilled that shot leaving an easy goal for Bellingham.

Garbage. Even the announcers were rooting for and tongue bathing the lackluster English team. Why Americans root for them in the WC and Euro is beyond me.

England fans should thank the soccer gods for VAR which saved them today. It would’ve overturned their one lone BS WC win.
Who pissed in your Wheaties? That was absolutely a foul on Haaland in the box, so no goal there and you seem to be forgetting the VAR reversal of the England PK, which was also the right call.

You’re an England apologist. That “foul” had nothing to do with the goal. And the England player acted as if he was shot after a casual shove. The England PK VAR was BS to start with anyway, shouldn’t even been reviewed. England is garbage.

Wow, that was quick, 1-0 Argentina off the corner from Messi to Macallister for a perfect header, after the Swiss had dominated early.

It doesn't matter. It was an obvious foul. Find me anyone who didn't think it was a foul. And the England PK VAR was absolutely not BS, as it was required to overturn the ref's missed call giving the PK to England. I have no idea why you have it in for England, but you're not making a very good case here.

Great save by Martinez as the Swiss are starting to ask some questions. Argentina seems a bit too passive right now for only being up 1-0.

Edit - and like that, the Swiss score (Ndoy). 1-1.

What just happened to Switzerland seems to be a rule that needs changing. So because the referee gave a yellow card to Paredes on Argentina (obvious mistake based on the video), the VAR decision has to be either uphold a stupid decision or give a yellow card to the Swiss player? Which is his second yellow, and now the Swiss are down to 10? Huh?

Oh my! The Swiss player Embolo faked a dive, which the ref ruled as a yellow card for an Argentine player, but the VAR reversed the call, taking away the yellow from the Argentine player, which necessitated giving the yellow card to Embolo, who was already on a yellow card and that then led to a red card for Embolo. Very harsh, but that's the way the rule is written (the ref supposedly has no leeway to just cancel the yellow on the Argentinian player).

Does seem a bit harsh, but that is the letter of the law and the VAR review.

Simulation is a yellow. What are you guys talking about. The total correct call.

Worst part of the world cup is people who have never watched the game give their opinion.
