Last season, a season where the experts here insist that PSU went "all in" and gave Franklin "everything he asked for" there was at least a 9 million dollar difference in NIL funding. Now I hate to confuse people here with the facts. The gap has widened. PSU simply doesn't have the 2 difference makers on both sides of the ball and in a close game ....it's going to continue to be that way. If PSU wants to shop at Dollar General, nothing will change.

Yes, Franklin didn't win the "big game." This season PSU has 3 games. The rest are "teams without a pulse." Not my characterization, but rather the description assigned by the BWICAC to dismiss Franklin's wins. So, by their own definition, PSU must beat the 9 teams without a pulse and then compete in 3 games vs. teams that will all likely have 3 losses this season.
I'm stocked with popcorn. Are we defining these 3 as big games? Better beat all the teams without a pulse. Haha

Dismiss BGJ wins?

LMAO!!!!!

The guy was a bum and a clown.

Pat McAfee (and others) said we spent "about as much" as Ohio State
This theory that we're somehow broke doesn't make any sense
Allar, Allen and Singleton didn't stay for free--they were paid extremely well
Yes, Franklin admitted that in 2025 PSU went all in and were on equal footing with OSU. His own words from his own mouth after he was fired.

100% I'm not sure why people aren't able to accept that. It's okay that we're paying players very well.

On an equal footing with OSU? Not from a talent standpoint. OSU was routinely in the top 5 in recruiting and Penn State was around 15th. In his last year was there any Penn Stater who thought we had talent equal to OSU?

they weigh more than your opinion does
It means nothing--just like my opinion on the matter
The reality is we know from Franklin, McAfee and countless others that we're spending on par with others even if you're desperate to believe otherwise

Dayum, if we were paying a 15th ranked roster top 5 money, no wonder there were problems. I do think Franklin was an over-spender. He hadn’t quite figured out how to balance things.

Where is it stated that they were paying last year’s roster top 5 money?

I have never seen any reports that PSU was in the top five in NIL last year. If that’s true, I will be happy to admit my wrongness if anyone has a credible source they can post to prove it.
I think people want it to be true thinking that only a coaching change was needed to make us a contender.

Sadly, a lot more would be needed, and that probably isn't going to happen.

No one wants it to be true
Franklin and McAfee (plus countless others) have stressed that spending hasn't been a problem
You realize Allar's NIL was insanely high, right? Or are we pretending he wasn't here?

His name is Richard. We want to see that Northwestern law degree, Loado.
I don't even know where to start with this--let's try these three
1--maybe I already did share it--how would you know as you have me on ignore (or claim you do)
2--what sane person would do that?
3--AI could create anything you ask for in about 25 seconds

It became worse than that. No one realistically thought James could win a game against an evenly matched roster. Once that happened, it was clearly time for a change.
Changing the coach without obtaining championship quality athletes is like changing light bulbs on a broken lamp.

Its rich that BGJ talks about loyalty to PSU and how he turned down USC and LSU - but fails to mention he weaselled more money out PSU every time.
Would you care to compile a list of coaches who had their contracts renegotiated and saw salary increases just this past season? Matt Rhule, Jeff Brohm, Curt Cignetti, Mike Elko, Eli Drinkwitz, Dan Lanning, Bret Bielema, Kenny Dillingham, Marcus Freeman....a partial list of coaches who got extensions and raises at their current jobs in 2025. Penn State Fans who post here must live in caves.

In case anyone isn't watching.....PSU has slipped to #23 in the Rivals 2027 recruiting class rankings. That's good for #8 in the Big Ten. Unless there are drastic improvements, are we really insisting this is the path to unseating Ohio State and Oregon?
Perhaps not, but the BWICAC can always kick James Franklin around and boast of stolen glory.

Wait...I thought recruiting class rankings didn't matter any more because of the portal? Also a verbal commitment is nice and all bur until they sign it also doesn't matter. Just means you're in the lead.
