Really? It had nothing to do with so-called businesses like The Quality Learing Center?
Let me know when he goes after red states for fraud.

Government benefit and public service fraud is a non-partisan issue that affects all 50 states, regardless of political leadership. According to data tracked by the U.S. Sentencing Commission and various federal agencies, several Republican-led "red" states rank among the highest in the country for government benefit fraud cases, improper payments, and systemic program abuse. https://docs.house.gov/meetings/GO/GO00/20260304/119003/HHRG-119-GO00-20260304-SD039.pdf

The primary red states facing significant issues with fraud span several key sectors:

Medicaid Fraud

Texas frequently ranks at the top of the nation for recovered Medicaid fraud dollars. In a single reporting cycle, the Texas State Auditor's Office and federal investigators recovered $219.9 million from civil and criminal healthcare fraud judgments. [1]

Image of Fla
Florida ranks among the highest states nationwide for healthcare and telemarketing fraud. The state recovered over $88.3 million in fraudulent Medicaid dollars in a single fiscal year, driven heavily by complex multi-million dollar medical billing schemes. [1, 2]

Image of LA
Louisiana These states also rank highly for Medicaid fraud recovery, with Louisiana recovering $86.4 million and Arkansas recovering $42.6 million in a single year.

Welfare & Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
 • Mississippi: Mississippi was the center of one of the largest Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) welfare scandals in U.S. history, resulting in federal orders for the state to pay back $101 million in misspent or diverted funds. [1]
 • State Cost-Share Penalties: Under strict federal oversight targeting SNAP payment errors, the federal government revealed that a high volume of improper payments occurred nationwide. Due to high error and oversight gaps, red states like Texas are projected to be penalized an estimated $725 million annually to help fund their own benefits. [1]
Consumer & Identity Fraud Risks

According to national consumer metrics compiled by analysts at WalletHub, the top ten most fraud-prone states based on complaints, per-capita financial losses, and fraud arrests heavily feature red states, including Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. [1]

Yeah, I agree Shirley is a so-called journalist.

But let's make no mistake about it, journalists at major rags like the NYT are way ahead of people like Shirley in consistent quality.

well I don't know if Nick Shirley is involved but there are numerous stories down here about discovering and prosecuting fraud. And you're right, fraud is non partisan

If he won't, then we need to find someone who will. And if they really find, and put a stop to, fraud in red states, I will applaud them.

I won't say "i don't like his findings, and therefore i don't like him, becuz poltics..."

What we don't like is the made for tv spectacles he makes out of his investigations into blue states only. He could have shared his findings privately with the government but instead decided to use them as inflammatory, partisan rage-bait for notoriety and clicks.

well, we should all be ecstatic that the other party would never use findings as inflammatory, partisan, rage bait for notoriety and clicks.

There's too much of this name calling.

By the way "Yes, there are several Republican-led states currently facing fraud investigations or experiencing documented issues with government programs. Recent reports detail ongoing inquiries in states such as Mississippi, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio:.

Why do we not have gonzo journalists making documentaries in those states?

10001110101. you have your head up your *** on this one.

What you don't understand is that your complaint is based on content of journalism and not process.
Oh I don't know. I'm sure I'd have plenty of complaints if we were privy to the true processes followed by the only journalists you're willing to call journalists (being employed by a mega corporation as journalist = a journalist).

You mean, like Upton Sinclair and Thomas Nast? The whole purpose of muckraking is to bring government malfeasance into the light. The government is as much to blame as anyone. Who watches the watchers? He’s taking it to the voters.

I don't know if your statement is accurate or not, but does it make any difference in the end result? Shirley uncovered fraud in the system, and that's the important point

It is accurate- and he didn't uncover fraud, it was already uncovered and being investigated. He was sent there to show more instances of the fraud/blow it up (that people in power already knew about) so that they could use it for propaganda purposes.

While I understand your point, you have to admit the Trump administration/maga are pretty inconsistent when it comes to their opinion on "fraud" and when it matters or not

As opposed to everyone but FOX being an arm of the DNC? Seems you’d prefer no one look into the billions in fraud.

Seems like you're allowing this administration to pick and choose what "fraud" you care about while they pardon fraudsters who made billions and never had to pay it back.

I'm not trying to do whataboutism (like you), I'm just pointing out that you're allowing propaganda to color what you "care" about:

Legal and state-level tracking analyses estimate that Trump's second-term clemency actions have wiped out or overridden between $1.3 billion and $2 billion in court-ordered restitution, fines, and asset forfeitures originally intended to repay victims and taxpayers

When a presidential pardon or commutation remits restitution orders, it legally removes the offender's requirement to pay back the victims of their schemes.

I am? Am I complaining about anyone investigating fraud the way you are? I’m all for sniffing it out at all levels in all states for all parties and putting the criminals in jail. You, however look to only want the non-Somali red areas to be investigated.

Yet the same government that lauds the muckraker who exposes fraud in blue states only, quietly pardons fraudsters who bribe them in the shadows. Who's watching the benefactors in this two-tiered system of justice and why isn't it getting more airtime? Is it really that surprising that we don't trust the government that exposes fraud on one hand and extends presidential pardons for fraud, with no restitution required on the other?

Which is more impactful to the USA?

1. Fraudsters like that white lady from minny and her underlings ripping off covid medicaid cash in the millions.

2.Fraudster like US Senator Scott(r),florida convicted of ripping off Medicare for hundreds of millions.

3. Trump selling pardons ,most notably those 70 that relieved the convicts of 1.4 billion debt to taxpayers while trump PACs get 140 million from these convicted felon in return.
Essentially, leader of the free world has demonstrated he is wide open for bribes from anyone with deep pockets like the Saudis,(kushners fund has been gifted 3.5 billion from middle Eastern countries).

Now which of these are more threatening to america?

The biden administration (not even sleepy joe) literally sold auto pen pardons lol biden didn't even know who all was being pardoned by "the machine"

Every liberal accusation is a confession.

This country has lost hundreds of billions if not trillions to low tier fraud, mostly carried out in blue states/cities. The democrats are in on the corruption as has been proven in Minnesota and California (newsom family being under criminal investigation with wired informants is just 👌)

you must have missed the post where I pointed out the red states where there are fraud investigations. What you posted about only blue states is inaccurate.

I agree with you on the pardoning statement. Pardoning is out of control
