I think this will be interesting to see…

My son will be at State next month and will be a fifth generation Bulldog! That really blows my mind, because I didn’t know about a great uncle and one of his ancestors attending. The earliest alumnus from my family graduated in 1900!

To clarify, you’re an alumnus even if you attended and didn’t graduate. And of course, if you and all 12 of your siblings went/graduated it’s still only one generation.

My sons are 4th gen. if you count my grandmother who went to some type of teacher training at MSU in the 1920s. Otherwise, my parents were the first generation to get full on degrees. Their parents were very working class, factory, and small farmers.

I am just a fan and never attended Mississippi State. In fact, I never even graduated high school. I became a fan because my cousin played there in the 70's as was All SEC JR & SR years at safety and a 2nd team All American his senior year. He is in the Mississippi State hall of fame and some of you may have known him as he was a part of the Bulldog Club. His name was Stan Black. He played safety his JR & SR years and in the NFL and punt returner but I think he led the team in receptions his sophomore year as a WR but we didn't throw much back then. FR weren't allowed to play back then.

But... my one of my daughter's got her undergrad degree from State and I helped fund that so I have spend money. FYI, she got her grad degree from OM. She said that she knew she hated Ole Miss before she attended but once she had to go there she found out why she hated them.

That makes your family 1st 2nd generation! Light it up!

My bad, if you had a cousin attend and a child, you’re in the 2nd gen club!

4th generation! My oldest grand child graduated last year from State. She was 2yrs cheerleader as was her mother back in the day. I have another granddaughter headed to State in 1yr. Another granddaughter that will graduate high school in couple of years and is looking to get a D-1 scholarship in soccer. She plays on her school team and travel ball. I know I am biased but she is really good. Rest of grandkids are too young to have a clue where they are going.

My great grandfather was the football team cook poached from the University of Tennessee. My grandfather lettered in golf and boxing. My dad lettered in partying. My mom did not go to MSU but was born on campus before her family moved to Jackson. I graduated from the Business college. I'm counting that as 4th generation. Pretty certain at least one of my 3 kids will go to State if college is still a thing in 10-15 years

Mine sent me this during orientation as they were explaining how to check degree progress, I'm happy she got to go to public school in Florida.

I have an uncle who went to Mississippi State (as well as another who went to Ole Miss, but he lived in northeast Tennessee), but both my parents are Mississippi College graduates

My father started there but enlisted in the Army Air Corps his FR year after the start of WWII. Never went back.
I got B.S. and my sister got M.S. there.
My son and daughter both got undergrad degrees there.

I am 3rd generation. Hopefully my kids will be the 4th. I'm currently looking at my grandad's cowbell passed down to me (sits in my office as an heirloom no bringing to games), and I have his old MSU class ring from way back. I'm not a big ring wearer but it's cool to have.

2nd. Grandparents on one side didn't go to college and were Ole Miss fans, until his kids went to MSU. Grandparents on the other side were farmers and didn't give a 17 about sports or college.

I’ve got my Dads ring. I’ve worn it to a few games since he died.

I know we are on 4th for sure.
My grandfather made his own cowbell from one of his cows welded a handle.
Dad was a state fan
Me - first person in my family to get a 4 year degree, again currently enrolled at State in a Master’s program again
Son and Daughter are both loving going to games at a very early age.
