Not to sound like Stephen A Smith but it is kinda weird that 20% of our population is now Latino with many of those people originating in soccer centric societies. That's like 68 million people. Kevin Frazier was on Dan Patrick this morning and was ranting how this huge source of soccer talent is just being priced out of US soccer. His son plays soccer and he can afford to have him play. He talked of how his kid was getting a big head and a few years back he brought him down to the "hood" and the players from the local boys and girls club just schooled him. The grass roots of soccer development just doesn't exist. You would think a sport that just requires a ball would be pretty cheap to get kids involved and developed.

I think the athletic talent or ability of a 6 foot 7 is not the talent you need for Soccer. Now let's go to the NFL, take all the DB's, WR's and running backs, let them play soccer their entire life then put that team together for the World Cup. It would be the most athletic team in the world. Our women kick *** in soccer, but they don't have the same professional opportunity men do. So, our best females go there where our men goes somewhere else. We have the most and the best athletes in the world. Just look at our Olympic Track and Field metal count.
How about an athlete like Lebron James at goalie? That would be a fun shootout.

The majority of our Latino immigration comes from Mexico and Central America, they may love soccer but they aren't as competitive as the South American countries.

Latino soccer just isn’t that good. South American is. But most of our Latino population is from Central America. And other than Mexico, they’re just not good. And it’s not like Mexico is all that great either. The overwhelming majority of good soccer players are European, South American & a little bit North African.

There are two questions I would like to see answered: Where in America do kids only pick up a soccer ball? 2. Is there as much money in soccer in America as there is in other countries?

MLS only pays really good money for old superstars from European clubs: Messi, Beckham …those types. I‘d say there is no place in the US where kids only play soccer.

Core Latino Countries The following nations are always considered Latino due to their primary Spanish or Portuguese language roots:

Got to fix the "pay for play" youth systems first. USA didn't get out-athleted vs Belgium. They got out-soccered.
It's illegal to pay athletically talented minors due to labor laws (if they were paid you'd have to limit training hours, games per week, etc.), but it's perfectly legal to make them pay and do all the same things.

We do know what it is. But the vast majority of Latinos in USA are Central American. And not that good at soccer.
