At U23s, they had a couple of finals then opening ceremonies then more finals.

The Opening Finals were epic, singularly the best worst thing I've ever seen. So horrifically bad that it was good.
I recall your commentary of them!

It's showing Can/Guatemala 57kg bronze match as starting soon. Why post a schedule if you aren't going to follow it.

They ran Burnett's final at the same time as a 57 bronze match, Burnett was probably showered and back at the hotel before the bronze match was finished. Now they waited for the bronze to be done for Anderson's match against Jaden Perez Drexel/Puerto Rico and they fixed the technical issues.

10-4 Anderson at the break. And he wins 14-4 in 3:24.

Peterston is playing with the Canandian Ali Karout who has more MMA results coming up in a search than wrestling. He's tried a half and then a chicken wing and leads 8-0 at the break.

Limp arms a TD to win 10-0 in 3:35.

This opening ceremony isn't spectacularly horrendous, it's pathetic. No real flags but a 10"x13" piece of cardboard held by a staff member as a person from the country stands behind them. Then they play all 24 verses of the Brazilian national anthem.

Now speeches in Portuguese.

The only thing worthwhile is that Brock Mantanona's middle name is Ace.

So the Americans go 10 for 10 in the finals/last round of RR with the only points allowed were by Anderson to a fellow American wrestling under the Puerto Rican flag.

Peterson had the "worst" tournament for the team giving up 4 points and only 1 TF. Anderson gave up 7 pts total but had the only hard bracket, with Mendoza a highly ranked Michigan recruit and Perez from Drexel.

The only other wrestler to give up a point was surprisingly Bo Bassett on a 2&2 in a 12-2 TF in under a minute

Great match, with some fantastic defense and scrambles. I am so impressed with how much better the technique of young wrestlers is now compared to when I was in HS (1979-1982).

Thanks for posting that. Today was an iconic climb in the Tour de France so I was flipping back and forth and missed that Mendoza was wrestling or I would have made sure to catch that one live.
