DES MOINES, Iowa — Police say the parents of an infant who died in April following a Des Moines dog attack have been charged in the incident, and law enforcement is asking for the public’s help to locate them.

Elderidge Graham, Sr., 37, and Kristi Haney, 30, are each charged with one count of Child Endangerment Causing Death and three counts of Child Endangerment Causing Substantial Risk, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the Des Moines Police Department.

The charges are linked to an incident on April 3, when DMPD officers and rescue personnel from the Des Moines Fire Department responded to an apartment in the 3600 block of Kennedy Drive on a report that a dog had injured an infant, and the child was not showing signs of life.

Sgt. Parizek said when they arrived on scene, the child was confirmed to be dead.


The investigation into the incident indicates a pit bull terrier that was known to be aggressive in the past attacked the infant. Police were also able to determine that statements made to them about the supervision of the child were false, according to Sgt. Parizek.

The dog that attacked the infant was surrendered to authorities and humanely euthanized.


Sgt. Parizek said if you have information about the location of Graham or Haney, call 911. Tips can also be provided at www.crimestoppersofcentraliowa.com.

I was hear to say "The Dingo ate my baby" in Meryl Streep's Aussie accent. Fun true story. My ex gf, an Australian, went to the same church as Lindy Chamberlain, whose daughter, Azarea did get "eaten" by the Dingo's. More fun fact. A dingo came up to me in Australia, sat next to me and just chillaxed and begged for food. I obliged. It ate, then slinked away.

The rescue dog of the week in the CR Ragzette is always some breed or mixed breed of Bull Terrier. I wonder why they're the most abandoned dog at the local shelter....

They are banned from most municipalities and if not, they are banned from most apartments.

They also seem to hump anything they can because everything in a shelter is a pit mix.

They're not only aggressive but just undesired.

As for the good with kids part, they do "kids testing" during intake. They basically do tings to the dog a kid would do (pull ears, pull tail, pull hair, take toys, grab, etc) to see how they would react.

I'm sure Elderidge and Kristi walked the pup frequently and ensured it had proper training.

I’m super excited that I see a roughly 125lb lady walking her new pit bull in the morning on my daily walk. She looks like she would be a combination of these two parents.
I get that these dogs might not be the worst dogs in the world but they always have the worst dog owners in the world.
Such a sad story that a child lost their life, even if that child was bound to have a sh.itty upbringing.

There was an Aussie girl I used to hook up with that was skeptical of that case, despite the child's jacket and, I think, remains, being found at a dingo's den and thus overturning the murder charge. CSB.

Anyway, no shock that it was some sort of pitbull that did this.

Because they are often rescued from Indian reservations in the Dakotas where spaying and neutering is almost non-existent. Then they get moved throughout the country through various rescues and rescue networks.

Most of them come into the rescue programs either inside their mother or still attached at the teat.

Dingos are known for preferring white meat.

Funny, when I started looking for an image of the dingo scene, I started wondering, what else was she in? I have fond memories of the dresses she wore in the movie. She was great in Just Shoot Me, but looks like "other than acting" became her priority.

AI dogs are cute, plus you don't have to pick up the poop, listen to them bark, chew on the furniture or track mud or bring dead animals into the house. They won't roll on a maggot infested carcass of a rabbit or squirrel either. I want one...

You don't have to buy the $2,500 washer with the pet hair setting or the 600 Dyson pet plus vac...

I feel like a lot of the people that say their dog is one of the latter three breeds are just trying to convince people that their dog isn't really the former breed, which it probably is. Lipstick on a pig, and all that.

Euthanized the dog, need to do the same with the idiot parents. Some people shouldn’t have kids and don’t deserve them.

An American Bull Dog is different from a Staffordshire terrier. They are in the mastiff family.
