How much money did Iowa athletics make from the Savannah Bananas games?

I've looked online and made other inquiries, but I can't find out how much Iowa made on the Bananas games. Anyone have any info? They said they sold 140,000 tickets at an average of about $40 per, so that's $5.6 million, an incredible number to me. Iowa is always asking us for money, so I just wondered how much the athletic department made from those two nights.

The SB charges $40 per ticket, not Iowa, to all games. I'm guessing they paid rent and Iowa got concessions

It’s quite a big traveling group. Two teams, cheerleaders, a small band, and all kinds of support staff.

hotels, food, travel.

be a great experience for an internship for people looking to get their feet wet in traveling entertainment.

I would imagine their expenses are very large.

In the spirit of transparency I would think the Athletic Department would announce what the financial arrangements were and how much money, if any, was realized by Iowa from its Bananas presentation. I also would think a business and/or sports reporter would be asking about it.

It’s a public entity. It will come out.

I believe Iowa had exclusive rights to tickets sold in Kinnick Edge. Likely a nice return ok an otherwise empty stadium in July.

Yep. Fans had fun, the UI presumably made at least a little money. Otherwise, just another July day.
