I mean…. Offense shouldn’t be our problem and we have a legit DC this year. They lost a ton and replaced their best coach ever with some total rando/homeless guy.
Lebby’s coaching for his HC career, even though I’m not sure that amounts to a ton. But, the biggest difference to me is the defense. Nobody is talking about Arnett coming back, and if we had him last year we win 8+ games.

You don’t expect that anyway? They literally did what we did with Arnett, only our coach passed away and didn’t run out of town as fast as he could. Absolutely absurd move, just like ours was.
Not a bad take. I don’t know if Arnett is the difference in 3 games, but we definitely left some winnable games on the table.

Arnett is a question mark to me. He did fine under Leach, but Leach was running a ball contril.offense and keeping the defense off the field. The exact opposite of Lebby.
Thats really the only data points we have. The defense was not as goid with Arnett as head coach.
While I think its easy to say Arnett is better than Hutzler, thats really more an indictment of Hutzler than anything.
He was pretty good under Mullen, too. He is capable, at the very least. Hutzler, not so much.
LOL...he didnt coach a game under Mullen. He left for undisclosed reasons (and hilarious rumors). He spent the last two years as an analyst.
At this point I'm at the prove-it point in my fanhood. Let me see results and I'll start to believe. I want to believe, but I also remember our defense was complete dogshit under Arnett as head coach.
It's not about talent, or athleticism, but skill in European Acadamies or technique.
They may not have learned the deft touch at 8.

Arnett is a good DC & the defense has a chance to be really good. We've got some dudes on D, KT will be better & hopefully Lebby does a better job.
Having said that, I'm not so sure we'll win more than OM. Just win more than last year & show a strong upwards trajectory & I'll be content.

I think that year of working under lane and working with that 24 OM defense against OM offense would allow ZA to have some adaptability

Nah, Lebby needs to win 9 or 10 for me to get on board with keeping him another year
My understanding is Golding had all of Lane's assistant coaches for the playoffs and they all left after they lost. Everyone thinks Golding is going to be good because he did well in the playoffs without Lane, but he could just be the opposite of Arnett and let those assistants do their job during the playoffs instead of firing them or over-ruling them. And now that they are gone, we get to see if he's actually a good coach or is he their Arnett.
These guys will say stuff like that all the time, then when they're doing record predictions for other SEC teams they'll count the State game as win for that team.
