Bucknor famously had 6 ball / strike calls overturned in one game this season. He has not called a game in months after being hit by ball and suffering a concussion. Laz Diaz is not a loss, either He likes to make stuff about him too often. There are a couple of solid umpires on the list. What is interesting is that MLB and the umpires union agreed to announcing that this was the result of buyouts. I suppose that has happened, but I don't recall ever hearing about buyouts.
This should clear the way for Jen Pawol to become the first full time female umpire in MLB next season.

Ding dong, the witch is dead!

...now on to that Laz Diaz fellow.

Edit - oh wait, laz is gone too! This really is a cause for celebration. The trio of those two and Angel used to screw over the nats so consistently it drove me crazy.

If you're going to suck, at least be entertaining like the late (and former WingBowl commissioner) Eric Gregg

They shouldn't be. The system they have now is perfect.

It keeps the game flow for the most part, but also adds fan engagement when there is challenge, plus keeps the 1 thing fans love most: relentless abuse of the authority figure.

I'm watching Jen Pawol behind the plate of the Brewers/Cardinals...and she's not having a great game. I see some have nicknamed her "Angela Hernandez"

Philosophically, the current way they're doing it is dumb. They have a system that can get the calls correct, and in a timely fashion, but they won't use it, except in very limited circumstances, so more of the calls can still be wrong. Just get the calls right. No need for artificial limits on it.

That was tested in the minors and people hated it.
