This thread is a free-for-all!

thisman.org

This site claims that since 2006, thousands of people worldwide (from New York to Tehran to Beijing) have independently dreamed about the exact same unidentified man--often receiving life advice from him--despite never seeing his face in real life. The site shares the sketch, testimonials, and theories ranging from Jungian collective unconscious to some kind of viral meme/hoax/psychological experiment. It's eerie, low-key unsettling, and perfectly captures how the internet can turn a weird shared experience into an enduring mystery.

A man in a small village bought a grandfather clock that had no hands.

Every morning at exactly 4:17 a.m., it would cough.

Not chime. Cough.

The shopkeeper told him, "Don't worry. It only does that when someone forgets your name."

After a week, the coughing became more frequent. His neighbors stopped greeting him. His dog stared through him as if he weren't there. His driver's license slowly faded until the photo remained but the name disappeared.

Desperate, he smashed the clock with a hammer.

Inside, instead of gears, he found hundreds of tiny paper tags, each with a different person's name written on it. Most were crossed out. One wasn't.

It was his.

The next morning, the clock was back on the wall.

Now it had hands.

They were his.
