Well that's a terrible example. I think the numbers are confusing you. It amazes me that everyone watches a 21-7 football game (which has 4 scoring plays) and has no complaints, but a 3-1 soccer game (the same number) in half the time (an hour and a half vs. 3 hours of real time) but the soccer game is somehow "boring as hell". They're pretty much the same thing. And I won't get into 9 innings of an agonizingly boring 3-1 baseball game.
I played both football and baseball, and love those sports. I enjoy watching both. But you'd have to admit there's a lot of downtime between plays in football, and certainly a lot of everyone standing around waiting for some action between pitches in baseball. I get that it's super cool to be in the anti-soccer crowd, but the outrage confuses me.
I have brought this up before, but people literally sit and watch golf, hockey, curling, bowling, downhill skiing, bike riding, drag racing, cornhole, horse jumping, dog shows, and many many MANY other way more boring sports on ESPN all the time. But soccer gets the hate for some reason.
