OT: You turn on the boob tube (cable) and scroll through the guide. What 5 movies make you stop and watch till the end?

Not what's the best movie, but what movie aren't you turning off? No order, no edits, no honorable mentions. Make the same mistakes I had to make with my 5.

Smokey and the Bandit
The Hustler
Excalibur
Rocky
Jaws

BTW - The Hustler soundtrack was a thing, and it worked great with the movie, but I'd love an MP4 of just Fats and Eddie talking and the sound of pool balls breaking and going to their destination.

"Shoot pool Eddie."
"I am shooting pool Fats. When I miss, you can shoot."

Like I'm not keeping the TV on until I hear that, as well as the showdown with George C. Scott.

"You owe me money!!!"

No way I turn that off.

This is the very end after Eddie beat Fats so bad he quits. George C. Scott wants his take and Eddie won't have it.

The Shawshank Redemption
The Accountant
The Intern
Aliens (the 2nd one was the best)
Vertigo (a Hitchcock masterpiece)
Aliens is the greatest war movie ever made.

As for my list, these were the first five to come to mind:
Stagecoach
The Asphalt Jungle
The Fifth Element
Hud
Key Largo

Casablanca (Julius and Philip Epstein, Penn State grads, wrote the screenplay)

The 39 Steps (1935) (Madeline Carroll is beautiful and Robert Donat is perfect. Hitchcock directs.)

War of the Worlds (1953) (The colors, the sound, the acting are all top notch and so memorable)

Lawrence of Arabia (The theme song alone is worth the price of admission. The cinematography is breathtaking on a big screen.)

The Searchers (How can anyone watch this and come away without an appreciation of John Wayne? "As long as you live, don't ever ask me more.")

Hmmm, great question. My favorites change from time to time but recently:

Moneyball
Dazed and Confused
Adventure Land
Witness
National Treasure

Always - Band of Brothers

There are movies that are usually always playing on current Comcast when scrolling thru. When it comes to streaming I usually pic something I never watched before or someone recommended to me.

The thing is I am old and would always default to Caddyshack, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstien, Animal House, 16 Candles, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Pretty in Pink, Better Off Dead, Rocky, Jaws, etc - however I have seen them so many times I could recite most of the movie and as a result I listed the other ones I am trying to now memorize as well. Lol. 😂 🤷‍♂️

Goodfellas
Airplane!
Date Night (go ahead and hammer me, but I like the film and I think Steve Carrell and Tina Fey worked well together)

Technically the question as stated is N/A for me, as I finally cut the cord months ago…

But as for movies that would otherwise meet the criteria for me, I’m going with:
Shawshank
Fellowship/Two Towers/Return of the King
Pacific Rim (yes lol)
Total Recall (90s version)
Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs/Kill Bill Vol I & II

I had to bundle certain ones together by creator

Already seeing my biggest regret, and it starred a former Disney star. A lot of folks say the co-star stole the movie, but I disagree. The scene with BBT was all I needed to see as to who the lead was.

Shawshank Redemption
Inglorious Basterds (Tarantino version)
Kill Bill (1 and/or 2)
The Big Short
The Social Network

One more.....The Dark Knight. I could probably throw in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood too. And La La Land. Reflective of my favorite filmmakers - Tarantino, Nolan, Fincher, Chazelle (who, after years of unfair filmmaker jail because of Babylon apparently has a new 'prison drama' on the way with Cillian Murphy, Daniel Craig, and Michelle Williams!!).

I think my list matches up most closely with Midnighter. So Midnighter is the winner.

I Win Beavis And Butthead GIF by Paramount+
