I remember that, but can’t remember the name. He was a good poster….Sorry to go off on a tangent here. But who was the poster that specialized I think in possibly prosthetics and was moving to Ukraine to put his services to use. Said he would probably be gone for a while. So, I thought more on this (and not necissariily directed at you, but in general)...
I genuinely did used to be a registered Republican. I voted Republican most of my adult life (sans that one Ross Perot time
). In 2016, though, I changed to Independent because both parties were becoming increasingly "TEAM JERSEY!" and more interested in winning than governing...both Trump and Clinton were detestible as candidates. At 52, I've found I'm a lot less interested in defending a party (or a person) and a lot more interested in following the facts. Using mainstream opinions/defintiosns of what constitutes conservatism vs liberalism, I'm pretty conservative in these areas: I support a secure border, a strong military, fiscal responsibility, and generally limited government.
On others, I'm more moderate. I support marriage equality, think government should stay out of most people's private lives, value the separation of church and state, etc... And on a lot of issues, I don't fit into either party. I don't think every undocumented immigrant is a criminal, but I certainly don't support open borders either. I don't think every government program is socialism, but I also don't think government is the answer to every problem.
More than anything, I've tried to become consistent. If I criticize Democrats for broad-brushing Republicans, I should criticize Republicans for broad-brushing Democrats. If I expect evidence from one side, I should expect it from the other. If Trump does something I think is wrong, I'll say so. If Biden does/did something I think is wrong, I'll say/said so.
The older I get, I'm realizing people don't have to agree with me but I hope to be judged by whether I apply the same standard regardless of whose name has an R or a D beside it. It just so happens, I see the most hypocracy coming from the right these days and I've made no secret I'll speak out the most w/ regards to the weaponization of my CHristian faith.
I don't think you need to apologize because I've long recognized you as a socially moderate, center-right conservative, only interested in the truth and unconcerned if your responses rankle one side or the other. the only reason I got involved a little was because in 2020 I stated a new job and 7 of the 9 people I worked with were hardcore democrats. All they did was bi.tch about Trump. You might say I’m exaggerating but it’s the truth, it literally was all they talked about.
now, I don’t like Trump or everything he does either, but it got annoying real fast. The thing is, this board isn’t much different. Trump had been out of office for a few years and the crying about him didn’t stop and still hasn’t to this day. The really annoying part is 90% of them thought Biden was the best president ever and may one or two democrats said he sucked. I feel like many more republicans/independents can see Trump is a terrible person/president.

I know I could be to blame because I tend to make fun of hardcore left way more than the hardcore right but it’s because there are way more hardcore left posters. I like to think it would do the same to the right if that’s all I saw day in and day out.
I’ve posted about rainbow people plenty on here and honestly, I couldn’t care less what a person does to their body or who they want to like. However, I don’t want to have to adjust my lifestyle to accommodate to their thoughts and ideas. I don’t want to pay for someone to destroy their body and i also don’t believe gay people should be able to adopt or have children. Man and women are needed to reproduce, I believe that happened for a reason.
I also have a big issue will illegal immigrants. I have no problem if they want to be here legally. People will say what’s the big deal, they aren’t hurting anyone. The big deal is they broke a law, I’m not a fan of people breaking the law. Image how much better living in a world where people didn’t break the law would be. It’s not hard to follow laws either.

While I agree contstantly complaining about Trump could be annoying. It is also very hard to not bring him up as he does something completely idiotic just about every day. And when his base enjoys it because it shows they have 'owned the libs,' THAT is where the frustration lies.
Based on many of his posts in this forum, he comes across as unsocialized and someone who only gets his information from right-wing scare sources and not actual human beings.
I graduated with 68 kids in my class and one of them was gay. Went to school with him since 1st grade. Grades 1-6 we had 18 kids in the class and he was one of them. Still believe I’ve never met a gay person?
