He barely even mentions Seton Hall despite finishing in 4th last year and Coach Holloway winning coy. It’s always the same back and forth conversation about will it be St John’s or UCONN who wins the league. Even with a new roster you would think we would at least get the benefit of the doubt but it looks like we are picked 2nd to last again. When are we going to make at least a splash or 2 in the portal to gain some respect in the offseason. Also some of this falls on Holloway not talking to any media to hype up his roster. I just listened to field of 68 who went through the Big East and they didn’t talk about a single player on our roster either.

The disrespect we get is real and "tangible".
We have to do a better job of playing the "media game". We may not like it but it has to be done to generate some buzz. Its the responsibility of Sham to do this.
SHU will just have to make them respect us and talk about us based on our on court play.
Im confident that we have the team and coaching to get it done.

Even if you assume MQ, Prov, Creighton and X are all picked higher because of the offseason/returnees, I think we get picked ahead of DePaul, Gtown and Butler. And I could still see us picked ahead of Creighton with a new coach and even X.

This is on Sha. He shuts the media out all summer every year. Under Willard, Rothstein visited South Orange every Summer and gave us a lot of exposure. Sha has put an end to that.

As a media guy, you are going to talk about the teams you see and the ones who made moves to bring in quality players or return quality players. We don't have any of that - no returnees, no big-name newcomers and no access to see the team. He's not going to talk about mostly unknown players he hasn't had an opportunity to see.

Sight unseen, media has to go off sites like this. SH is last or 2nd to last in the BE in all Transfer Class rankings I have seen.

A lot more questions than answers with this group.
1. Can Del Jones be a top end PG? As much as I didn’t like Clark, he did a good job golf controlling the game and handling pg duties.
2. The front court looks very weak on paper. Can they hold down the fort. We will be super small if Williams & Copeland aren’t on the court together.
3. Sha added 2 excellent shooters but that’s all they appear to do. Can they provide some intangibles.
4. Most people think Wilcher will be our best player. Can he take a huge leap? 8ppg is his best season to date. Quite the task.
5. The BE appears to be A LOT better than last year. Can we keep up?
6. Sha upgraded the non conference schedule in a major way. Probably the best in a few years. Likely 5 high majors with no gimmes (Kansas St maybe). Will we able to handle it right out the gate?
7. The team last year got along really well, bought into Sha’s philosophies. Will this team do the same?

We didnt last yr either. But we still came in fouth.
Yea, and? We're talking about pre-season accolades and hype. We deserved none last year and we deserve none this year based on the roster we've assembled comparatively to the higher-up Big East teams who have spent big.

Of course media will talk about them. I don't understand the surprise at that.

Don't sleep on DePaul. They are making real strides.

We are all Seton Hall fanatics so we give the program the benefit of the doubt and view the roster from a glass half full perspective, but objectively speaking this is not a very impressive roster. If this team were compiled at any other school we would be predicting them to finish last or close to it.

The reality is that we will almost always be picked at the bottom of the league in this era.

Interesting. I think I’m one of the most pessimistic, glass-half-full posters here, and I actually kind of like how the roster looks compared to last year. Would still prefer Sha wasn’t wed to the spread-the-wealth strategy but seems like we’re now a little more balanced (e.g., have some shooters).

If Sha can churn out NCAAT caliber teams with unheralded players and outpace the experts each year that will become the marketing. But has to be consistent. It’s been one time.

Yes. To a degree. Needs to be more than last year because that type of season most don’t recall and/or won’t get us mileage.

I could care less about these meaningless off season predictions and/or the need to make a splash in them. Just play well and win enough games to make the NCAA tournament.
