I agree a drop in ranking isn’t a big issue on how the kid will perform. You’re missing the main point. The same asshats that drop a kid because he committed to Kentucky write negative articles about us . Constant negative press makes agents wanna keep their guys clear of Kentucky. Why push a kid to go somewhere where your client will immediately take a ratings drop?
Duke is the polar opposite. Do you need to ask why an agent would push a guy to commit and get a 20 spot jump up the latter?

Since you used EYBL we'll start there. Most are there, but not all. Beckham Black and CJ Rosser, for instance, are not participating. Otherwise ALL the Adidas3SSB players, Under Armor Association Players, PumaPro16 and other independent circuits players would be participating at the NIKE EYBL too, and they simply aren't. So yeah, most of the kids are playing "all the time", but not all of them are playing elite competition "all the time." Maybe we can be concerned after Peach Jam if we wanna rush things or mid November if his stock continues to fall. But mid July, nah.
But Rosser and Beckham were playing in the FIBA World Cup. And those other circuits mean games too. The point is all these guys are playing all over America and the World against all kinds of levels of competition.

Ryan Hampton has played 1 game (that I can find stats for) since the last rating update in the beginning of June for several rating sites, and that was 2 days ago, after those rankings were updated. All his previous games were the end of May or before.
I know Rivals is popular for everyone to point to, but I actually prefer the industry comparison. It averages out the ranking sites and gives a fuller picture. But anyways, as of this morning, thanks to Ryan playing a game on 7/7, his ranking has moved on some of the sites that update more frequently.
As of yesterday he is up to #19 on Rivals (updated 7/8), #20 on ESPN (no update date provided on the ESPN site, and other sites still showing him as #19 on ESPN), #12 on 247Sports (no update date provided on the 247 site), #3 on On3 (pay site updated 7/8), and Prep Radar has him at #6 (updated 7/8). Point is, the rankings are all over the place, it's the second week of July. If you aren't in the public eye everyday, you are going to slide.

is a clown got it . 46-26 and he said he wouldn't change a thing it's all because of injuries he had all summer to think about what he could say and do and continues to make excuses about this or that . He doesn't understand because whenever he was a player he didn't lose very often . So he's not handling the heat very well at all . Then going back to the last press conference of the season was just as bad .Pope was EXTREMELY lucky Milan decided to withdraw from the draft and come here. That’s not going to happen every year. The fact of the matter is that he’s a bad recruiter. Guys like Zoom, Wilkins, McBride, etc. would come here no matter who the coach was. How many more reports are going to come out, portal and high school alike, that these guys are using UK to get a pay raise just to go to the school they want? Pope keeps letting this happen and it’s sad. He’s on year 3 and his recruiting has not gotten better. His roster his 1st year was by far his best (injuries screwed him from at least and elite 8) but that was because the hype of a new coach. He’s just a weird guy to recruits and idk if he will ever overcome that.
