Oh and look, Knueppel (Duke commit) is soaring up the boards in unprecedented fashion. He had one of the biggest jumps ever a few weeks ago on a different board (prior to his 6/29 Duke commitment).
Why does it bother people when players drop in the rankings? Is that suddenly going to make them less of a player?
The latest Knueppel gets the dreaded Duke bump, whether or not it is deserved. It happens almost every year.
Players rise and fall in rankings. It happens.

Pope will be at Ky when Hampton is playing in the NBA with Moreno & Hawthorne.

Edwards was in the conversation for #1 player in the country. A top 20 player is still a great get.
I remember his ranking but I remember also how he played. Definitely not up to that ranking.

How is this comment hatred for pope (regardless if he hates him or not). It’s a rather factual statement. Pope will not be here next season with another underwhelming season finishing with a first weekend blowout loss in march.

Exactly. The only thing that matters is making freaking shots go in. Through the years we have seen plenty of players not live up to their rankings and others that were lower, outperform their ranking. Same with preseason team predictions. Is there a ranking for player attitude and guts and willingness to take a charge or play bloodied up?
Because a lot of us believe there is a Kentucky bias that extends all the way through the media, NCAA and bleeds over into our officiating. ( Three Ts in one game last year). No other D1 team had 3. Watch Hurley one game. We got ours for. Sticking out his tongue after a made basket, looking at the camera after a made basket. Pope talking in a normal voice. Watch Hurley coach a game that matters. ?????

Duke constantly has players rise on commitment. Kansas too. Ours seem to always drop.
Remember when a Commitment to Alabama and Saban made everyone pop? That’s not happening anymore. Deboer isn’t the media darling Saban was. The Media drives public opinion far more than most want to admit.
I won’t even touch on “Kentucky Shame” or the president of the NCAA for 15 years ( Emmert) despising Calipari and Kentucky. It hurt tremendously we had the most terrified AD in college sports and Emmert crapped all over him. Our image in the media is crap.

I'll take a shot at it. Recruits the sixth ranked player and as soon as he sign, he takes a dramatic trap without any significant recent time on the court to earn that drop or to have a Duke playerto go up 200 points.. one of the strikes against Pope as they say ReCruiter player so this would have at least ease some of that. That's why I care.

Makes no sense. So you’re seriously worried that a recruit would make his decision even partially based on a concern that his individual ranking will drop if he commits to Kentucky? I think that’s silly.
Poor and biased media coverage affects all aspects of our program. These kids grew up listening to Bilas, Kenny Smith just like we did with Billy Packer. Kentucky hate in the media is real. Recruits see it.
This officially takes away Pope landing his first 5 star player, however I believe he will land another legit one here soon, most likely Spears Jr. and/ or Rosser.

Meh, that Rivals list only has 2, count em, 2 total five stars listed by Rivals. It's early, Peach Jam hasn't happened yet. A lot of these kids aren't playing anywhere of note to be seen and rise, therefore they are getting jumped in the rankings by the kids people are seeing right now. 247 still has Hampton 12th and listed as a 5 star for those that care about arbitrary mid summer rankings.
