West Charlotte has 1 like that.
Lake Norman Charter has/had that type of announcer… In 1965, Hickory was playing at Ashley (Gastonia, now Ashbrook since merger with Holbrook high from Lowell). Both teams were really good and there was a Huge crowd.

Ashley turned the public address over to a cheerleader who raved the entire game. I don’t think she even shut-up at halftime . Can recall the constant blare of the old metal loudspeakers. It was so loud there was kind of a ring to them…I was 12 or 13 then, but even at that age it was awful: ā€œHEY, HEY! LETS GO, GET BEHIND YOUR GREENIES-TWO BIT FOUR BITS…COME ON GREENIE, ONE M0RE TOUCHDOWN AND VICTORY.

Ashley would score then Hickory would catch up… somehow or another, Hickory scored near the end of the game and won. Not sure how, there were so many people I couldn’t see over crowd who were standing in front of me.

Coming back up the road I thought ā€œIf that cheerleader was my sister I’d run away from home, and if I was the coach I would forbid anybody in the press box from calling us Greenies. It sounds like a molded breakfast cereal.ā€

If a schedule like that could be maintained by most people in this country, not only would physical and mental health improve but there would be much less crime.

I’ve known more than a few people who were beyond mischievous and were short tempered, who after serving in the military became well-rounded citizens. The ones I knew well enough to ask them said the same thing, that they were taught self-control: how to take criticism and disappointment, along with accepting responsibility.

Accepting responsibility is probably the thing people get wrong the most.

Also, it's one of the first things they begin to teach you at The Citadel..."Sir, no excuse, Sir" was almost always the only answer as to why something wasn't done, or done the right way. It was embedded in our minds that there is no excuse, only that you didn't correctly complete a task. You had to own it, there is no excuse, you either succeeded or failed and it's only your fault if you failed, whatever outside forces occurred that may have prevented you from completing your task, it was your fault for not anticipating and/or being able to adjust.

Our company motto was "Perfection is the Standard".

The guys I play golf with obviously didn't attend the Citadel

We all know how hot it has been. Last night it rained here, then when the sun came out it felt like a steam bath.

Coming out of Walmart this afternoon while going back to my car that was parked pretty far down across the parking lot, I was grumbling and cussing a little bit about how uncomfortable the weather has been.

When I got to my car, I mumbled to myself ā€œ I wish to hell it would rain hard and not for just a few minutes, maybe it would cool things down at least for a while.ā€

ā€˜Must have been around 6 PM or so the sky began to look angry and I kid you not for the better part of an hour, We got one of the hardest rains I have seen. The rain was so intense that everything looked white, visibility was reduced down to a matter of yards.

The first picture is a map of this area from The Weather Channel. Please notice the large storm cell between Newton and Gastonia, that’s Lincolnton underneath it. The second picture is a portion of my yard sometime after it quit raining and if you notice, quite a bit of water is still coming down the hill directly towards me.
Unfortunately, I happen to be one of these poor souls who from time to time forgets the old Maxim, which says, ā€œBe careful what you wish for you just might get it.ā€

Tar`get is to fancy for Lincolnton folk 🤣
AMD should write a fashion column for the Lincoln Times-News. It would say something like ā€œToday’s sharp dressed man is found in royal blue coveralls, a white crash helmet with oil stained,runned-over brogans, along with an oval patch on the left pocket that says ā€œBud.ā€ Coupled with a really nasty attitude, nothing says fashion at its finest.ā€

Here are two photos made today from Lincolntonā€˜s public cemetery. If you were wondering why a chain-link fence topped off with Barbed-wire surrounds a cemetery the reason it’s because people are just dying to get in. Get it?

Thought he was already there.
Not sure if he's officially enrolled. I know when saint coached did interview about season he never mentioned his name. Had a couple people say watauga was his intended destination. But had a couple other people tell me something else. But I won't mention that because it wouldnt be right to post on here during off-season

Matt Wilson sounded like the old strength coach at alabama today. 🤣
Last time I saw that dude…… he was on his hands/ Knees crying in exhaustion at Lincolnton 2 yrs ago after the game. It Looked to be the toughest loss of his coaching career šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ he was acting a fool on the sidelines. I didn’t even know who he was…. Someone told me that was the new ā€œ Head Coachā€ā€¦
I was in disbelief honestly

Seems to be a really emotional guy lol

That wasn’t the coach, it was me. The boosters were selling salty peanuts in the shell. I bought one of the party size bags and ate the whole thing.

Oh, and hey! Here is something else to cry about. This is a picture of the new target under construction and that one little narrow street beyond the sidewalk will have to accommodate all the Christmas traffic.
