damn, the US defenders didn't do too well, and Belgium scores in the 9th minute. 1-0, Belgium

I'm never a fan of headers by the defense this deep on the field, as they often lead to turnovers, as well as confusion by the D, in a very dangerous location for the D.

Was just about to post that the US looks completely outclassed, and then they give up an easy goal. This could get ugly.

They’ve played as poorly so far as any team has in any game of this World Cup. They actually were better when they lost to this same team 5-1 in March, which tells you how bad this has been.

All of them are panicking on the ball. Giveaway after giveaway. Even if they have to pass horizontally for 10 minutes to calm down, they should think about it.

Clearly one of Belgium’s plans is to play it long out of the back and immediately put pressure on our back line - they’ve rarely played it slowly out of the back. Courtois is playing it long down the right consistently

Is blatant arms-extended grabbing an allowable thing in soccer? Belgium is doing it often. Even in wide open spaces.

He looks tentative, feeling the pressure. One huge problem is the passing is often indecisive for the whole U.S. team leading to turnovers. They have to defend better. Losing the battle if headers. If this play continues in the 2nd half, it will get ugly because Belgium is the aggressor.

Need to do a lot better job closing down in space, especially on the back post. Trossard keeps running all by himself down the left.

Belgium is pressing high and we’ll get another few chances to get behind them…need to convert on those.

Fell asleep after Freeman’s header on the first goal…good teams punish those mistakes. We were fortunate to get the free kick on our goal with a soft foul, but glad we took advantage. Third goal was again about our inability (or execution) in closing down space to give an easy cross.

We’ll get our chances, but need to stay disciplined and not give up a 3rd before we capitalize.
