Shows what you know ... I don't even like hockey.

The one good thing about the locust invasion is that if redirected you from "Single White Female"ing me, to just fading into the swarm.

I, of course, remember the existence of the movie ... I'm sure, at some point, my then-future-wife and I rented it, and I was able to get out of watching most of it by redirecting the evening toward sex. And then I could claim we rented and watched a chick flick last time, so now we can watch something good. Wasn't the buzz about it that movie that, per the source material, Bridget Jones was supposed to be a fat slob, but they, instead, had anorexic-adjacent Renee Zellweger gain a few pounds to look like a fairly normal woman and play her as undesirable?
Not so much that she was a fat slob but a bit of a homely woman who thought she was a fat slob.
But, yeah, horrible casting on several fronts there but as often is the case the American public needed an American lead to turn out for it.

You are arguing with a guy who is a complete zealot. The funniest classification narrative out of the Trump admin was that if Trump 'thinks' about declassifying something, its is declassified. Growlz ate that stuff up. Trump is an infallible god to him.
It a power every POTUS and only POTUS has...

Not quite. The President has broad constitutional authority over classification, but he's hardly the only official with declassification authority.

The Secretary of Push-ups, CIA Director, Secretary of State and many other officials have whats called delegated declassification authority w/in their own agencies. The catch is they generally can't unilaterally declassify another agency's information. For example, Pete can't simply declassify CIA-originated Intell without CIA coordination because the CIA owns that classification information. Hence why Pete tried to declassify the stuff he put out on Signal and violated a dozen or so regs.

Back to the topic.

TL;DR Summary:
  • Maj. Jason Watson, an active-duty Air Force logistics officer assigned to a NATO unit in Poland, intentionally protested in uniform on the U.S. Capitol steps holding a sign reading "Impeach. Convict. Remove." He knew there would likely be professional consequences.
  • This wasn't his first protest. In 2025, he conducted an anonymous 22-day hunger strike near the Capitol while wearing a white mask and jumpsuit. He later said it "failed" because no one paid attention.
  • Before this latest protest, Watson publicly identified himself, saying his identity and willingness to accept the consequences were part of the message.
  • He was arrested by Capitol Police, but the D.C. misdemeanor charge was dropped the following day.
  • Despite the civilian charge being dropped, Air Force authorities immediately took him into custody, and he is being held at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling while the Air Force investigates.
  • The Air Force has emphasized that military members must comply with regulations governing:
    • political activity,
    • conduct,
    • and the wear of the uniform.
  • The investigation is expected to focus on those issues.
  • Watson said his actions were motivated by his belief that he was honoring his oath to support and defend the Constitution, and he believes calling for impeachment is the appropriate constitutional remedy.
  • He acknowledged he expected his actions to significantly impact his career and family, including his ex-wife and children, and said he had weighed those consequences for about a year before acting.

The biggest new developments

  1. The civilian case appears to be over, at least for now—the D.C. charge was dismissed.
  2. The military investigation is now the primary legal issue.
  3. Watson has indicated he fully expected to face military discipline and appears prepared to accept it.

He's hoping, politically, that playing the long game will get him somewhere. Otherwise, it's career suicide. In today's age, it's either six or a half dozen.

Aug 16: U.S. Airman Says He Would Accept Punishment for Protesting Iran War

TL;DR Summary:
Maj. Jason Watson, an active-duty Air Force officer, publicly condemned President Trump’s war in Iran, calling it an act of American aggression and comparing it to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He said Trump chose the war despite opposition within his administration and characterized the decision as unconstitutional. Watson said his actions were motivated by his oath to the Constitution and that he was willing to accept punishment for speaking out, even though he was not a member of the Democratic Party.

Watson was arrested in July after holding signs calling for Trump’s removal on the U.S. Capitol steps, although the D.C. attorney general’s office declined to prosecute him. The Air Force later took him into custody and opened an investigation. As an active-duty officer, Watson could face serious consequences under military law, including punishment for contemptuous statements toward the president or statements intended to promote disloyalty toward the government.

STATEMENT OF COUNSEL FOR AIR FORCE MAJOR JASON P. WATSON

WASHINGTON, Aug. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Monument Legal partner Christopher J. Mutimer and Special Counsel Lorena M. Marez represent Air Force Major Jason P. Watson. Mr. Mutimer specializes in complex, high-stakes criminal defense in Washington, D.C. Ms. Marez is a civil rights attorney and former Army JAG officer.

At incredible personal and professional peril, Major Watson took the extraordinarily courageous step of speaking out against what he believes are unconstitutional actions by the President and his Administration — specifically, his belief that the war in Iran violates the Constitution he swore to defend. He understood the consequences and chose to act because he hoped to play a small part in alerting all Americans to the crisis he sees at hand.

Last night, Major Watson spoke publicly about his concerns in a televised interview. This morning, he returned to base and reported for duty. This afternoon, he was detained. We believe his detention hearing will be scheduled for this coming Thursday, and we will be arguing for his release.

Major Watson is a dedicated officer who has served honorably, and he acted out of conscience and devotion to the Constitution — not against it. We stand firmly beside him. We are prepared to defend him before the appropriate military court and will fight to ensure that his constitutional rights are fully protected at every step.

If Major Watson had one message for all Americans gravely concerned about the state of our democracy, it is this: you are not alone. He hopes his actions spur those who feel powerless to raise the alarm and help bring about change.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, Monument Legal handles criminal defense, federal defense, and personal injury matters in the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Lansing, Michigan. Founded in 2024 by Christopher J. Mutimer and Jay P. Mykytiuk, the firm represents clients in state and federal courts across all three markets. Learn more at monumentlegal.com.
