I'll never forgive him for injuring VvD. Never.Brit goalie was the player of that game.

Any American who roots for Belgium because of Balogun playing is an ******* and has their priorities messed up.It kinda is.
That poster is merely being sarcastic in that political pressure has been used to influence the overturned red card for the American player.
As we said previously, everything Trump touches turns to shiit.
After this circus, many Americans won't feel badly if the US loses vs Belgium.
Personally, I'm not watching a single minute, but I'll be around for the convo on Monday.
In a way...this is like the Iran War...most Americans don't want Iran to win, they just don't like the way the US manipulates things. Here, people won't be openly rooting for Belgium, but they won't feel bad if the US loses.
I'm pumped for tonight. Can't wait. It should be epic and the Seattle crowd will be electric.how we feeling US soccer fans?
Oh there's lots of Dems jumping at the chance to denounce their citizenship cuz Trump "got involved" (not really, he didn't, but trolling is trollingWhat a moronic take from Holly.
how we feeling US soccer fans?
Some people are just too wrapped up in politics to see what this actually was and screw those that won't cheer on this USMNT. This is the best US team we've ever had and they are damn fun to watch.Oh there's lots of Dems jumping at the chance to denounce their citizenship cuz Trump "got involved" (not really, he didn't, but trolling is trolling)...............
A ton of gaslighting from foreign soccer fans and rallying to support Belgium, and anti-Trump Americans "standing" with Belgium and hoping the U.S loses going on on the social media platforms.
You can't shame people enough for how unnecessarily and unjustifiably serious they take politics.![]()
Lots to like in this post. Host nation president, and particularly this one, shouldn't be griping to officials about soccer refereeing, much less through back channels, period. If anything, just whine publicly. I'm sure there are plenty of third world leaders that do that all the time regarding international competitions.I've been driving on vacation today. So many thoughts today and I enjoy reading all your thoughts.
#1- Flo Balogun's red card has me feeling so conflicted. FIFA is a corrupt piece of crap. There are 4 guys that should have been suspended and all had their suspensions lifted. I still don't believe that Balo's red was deserved, it was wrong to give it to him.
That said, I HATE how this went down. You inform both teams the day before the game that this was going to happen? Stinks of corruption. I hate feeling like the bad guy and the world was *slightly* starting to respect this squad and in one move everyone hates us again and worse yet, thinks we are cheaters.
Why this bothers me so much is because of a few reasons.
I don't like my favorite team being looked at in a bad light. I had a hard time with Iowa football and the racism thing, even though I knew it was BS. I hate seeing all the negativity. Ultimately, it is what it is and there is certainly a bunch of Euro, Afro, Middle Eastern whining going on but they hated us no matter what.
Second, I would feel a lot better if they just said the refs effed up VAR. Watched in slow mo (which is not permitted for fouls) and since they improperly used VAR for this play, it is being rescinded. That's all I needed to hear. Instead it's crap reasons.
Third, Balogun handled this so well. The team was ready to move on and play for him. If we win, I want noting taken away from the rest of the guys in the squad. There have been fabulous performances by Wes, Tillman, Adams. I don't want anything to overshadow what they have done as a unit. Poch has done really well as a manager.
Fourth, timing is everything. I eluded to this before but why wait until now? It needed to be done within 24 hrs so everyone would prepare.
Short version: I hate being the bad guy but I don't care how they ultimately feel. It's best on best and I want us to win.
#2 Brazil vs Norway was a great game for Norway and kind of gave me confirmation bias. I think Brazil is really in an interesting situation. Their creativity is gone. Joga Bonito is gone. I think they are left figuring out who they want to be? Do they want to be like Paraguay, Chile and Argentina and win hack fests to compete or do they recreate their old style? For Norway, Haaland is freaking awesome. Most thought the round of 32 was the max and get are going to the quarters. Their keeper doesn't get regular minutes in club and he was so good today. (I did pick Norway over Brazil in my bracket... but missed the next)
#3 Mexico and England. Holy crap. Mexico kicked the piss out of them... and lost. England had nothing in the tank and almost got CONCACAFed. I've never seen them have to defend like that before. 5 shot for a team making infinity dollars. Mexico just couldn't find the last goal. I have to give total credit to Pickford. He was my MOTM and that's even with the phenomenal performance by Bellingham.
While slightly screwed due to the Rd32 addition this is the game I expected us to get to. We win, it was a great tournament, we lose, we have that same coulda-woulda-shoulda feeling. The good news is at worst we will get like a "C".how we feeling US soccer fans?
By the way, fellas, (I'd tag a bunch of you but I'm lazy) Belgium is currently +105 to advance.I'm pumped for tonight. Can't wait. It should be epic and the Seattle crowd will be electric.
Rooting for Belgium and not being happy about political interference are NOT the same thing.Any American who roots for Belgium because of Balogun playing is an ******* and has their priorities messed up.
You're so full of shiit that your eyes are brown.Oh there's lots of Dems jumping at the chance to denounce their citizenship cuz Trump "got involved" (not really, he didn't, but trolling is trolling)...............

Don’t make foolish comments and tarnish what this team is doing. It’s petty.Rooting for Belgium and not being happy about political interference are NOT the same thing.
Identical comparison to not rooting for Iran and disagreeing with US policy.
Stop twisting my words, you fool.
You're half-right. I've pooped twice since this morning, but I do have brown eyes. Have had em since birth. You're so full of shiit that your eyes are brown.
Because "America bad"........Why are so many people pissed about about the suspension of a BS redcard that illegally used VAR? Laughable
Your wife glazing on Haaland:Found out yesterday my wife not only knows who Haaland is, but she's a fan. Says he's a "great athlete" & she's part Norwegian & was rooting for them. But I make one comment about some female Argentinian fans & I'm the creep.
Soccer is and always has been corrupt as ****. If our world leader can get things changed today who is to say "France" wont get **** changed some day. The beauty of the game is the competition and "cape verde" can compete 11v11. They cant compete when political leaders start throwing weight. Why are so many people pissed about about the suspension of a BS redcard that illegally used VAR? Laughable
It’s not that at all. It was called out very early on that VAR was used incorrectly to suggest more severity on a collision between players. FIFA could have quickly stepped in last Wednesday or Thursday to call it out and make corrections.Because "America bad"........
Get yourself YoutubeTV and record it and live in a bubble until you are back at home. Or, call in sick.Super thrilled I'm working tonight and likely won't get to watch it.
seems about right
seems about right
Right. You just can’t let guys come in studs up like that. They used to be broken legs all the time because of it. Youth players are taught to go in with their toe, not their cleats.I admit I am a novice......so you're saying it doesn't matter if it is incedental contact.
Your wife glazing on Haaland:
Tots and pears
Wait. You mean not all stadia have teams of guys with riot shields to protect players during goal celebrations? It really breaks my heart to see Europe have to come to the immediate realization that they’re no longer in charge. They’ve done such a bang-up job on soccer governance over the last half century. England getting **** thrown on them last night in the Azteca was icing on the cake
Honestly, I’m kind of shocked that folks on this board haven’t otherwise connected these particular dots…It’s not that at all. It was called out very early on that VAR was used incorrectly to suggest more severity on a collision between players. FIFA could have quickly stepped in last Wednesday or Thursday to call it out and make corrections.
Instead we now have a timeline of Trump and Trump officials calling FIFA up to three times to ask about the card and ultimately a decision by FIFA to suspend the suspension less than 36 hours before game time.
You can disagree with the original VAR-supported red card and still call out what looks like influence and corruption.
I don’t tend to agree with you on much, but this.Honestly, I’m kind of shocked that folks on this board haven’t otherwise connected these particular dots…
or these…

United States Seizes Hundreds of Internet Domains Used to Illegally Stream World Cup Matches
The Department of Justice announced today the seizure of nearly 400 sites that were engaged in the unauthorized streaming of matches in the FIFA World Cup Finals in violation of U.S. copyright law.www.justice.gov

I agree but it has no bearing on his performance in this game of course. Mexican plan of attack was a bit bone headed as well sending it into the box time after time. But Pickford was putting on a clinic on keeping the ball out.I'll never forgive him for injuring VvD. Never.

USA!!! Remember what we’re fighting for
I look at it this way.... .let's say Jeremy Hecklinski is having a Heisman worthy season. Iowa survives in the B10 title game, but Hecklinski throws a pick in the 3rd Qtr and goes for the tackle, and the garbage refs call him for an egregious targeting penalty, and let's say they make a rule change between now and the start of the season where Hecklinski is not only out for the rest of that B10 title game, but our next game as well, which would be the CFP.It’s not that at all. It was called out very early on that VAR was used incorrectly to suggest more severity on a collision between players. FIFA could have quickly stepped in last Wednesday or Thursday to call it out and make corrections.

That's because AI doesn't know how to rick roll..........that does not look like it will turn into a rick-roll.
