The red card was bunk. However, Balogun should do the honorable thing and sit out this game. It’s also the smart move, as you don’t want to be indebted to this mobster.

Not weird at all; they've been preparing for days not expecting to face Balogun; now, they only have a day to change course (it would have been another matter if FIFA had made their decision of a "suspension" within 24th hrs of the game ending).

What makes this galling is that it appears FIFA probably wouldn't have made this (late) decision but for a call from the WH.

This not only taints whatever the team does going forward in the world's eyes, but sets a bad precedent for red cards to be suspended, particularly if requested by the holder of the highest office of a host country.
FIFA has zero shame. Hell they invented a "peace" prize just for this World Cup.....everyone around the planet understands how corrupt FIFA is....they like the US just do it in your face now. To be fair FIFA is a master at corruption and has a pretty long history of it.

irony

Balogun was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Yoruba Nigerian parents.[8][9] This made Balogun a US citizen. His parents were living in London, and visited New York when his mother was seven months pregnant with him. Airline staff did not allow her to board the family's return flight to London due to safety concerns over the advanced state of her pregnancy, and Balogun was subsequently born in New York.[10] He returned to the United Kingdom with his parents when he was two months old and grew up in London.[11][12][13]

It would have been a simple matter to downgrade the red to a yellow but, no, FIFA had to do it in a way that prolongs the debate. Idiots. Going forward, suppose someone gets a red in a match their team wins. What then? Beyond stupid.
I’m curious to see if England challenges the one-game suspension mandated by the red card last night. We shall see. #FIFAcorrupt.

Edit I’m surely not the first to ask, I did not check. Apologies.

Not sure if real but think it is since it’s all over social media….
