Iowa Football Season-Opener Made More Interesting by the Transfer Portal
Iowa may have its hands full with a Northern Illinois team that loaded up through the transfer portal. This might not be the layup the Hawkeyes assume it'll be.
We'll see how he handles playing a B1G defense in Kinnick, and not the kind of schedule W Carolina played. So those numbers came against Gardner Webb, Elon, Samford, (not Stanford), Campbell, Furman, Mercer, and the citadel. Not exactly anything close to a B1G schedule. Their one real test was against a common opponent, Wake Forest who drubbed them 42-10. I'll take Lutmer and Phil's boys to keep him in check.....![]()

Hilarious. Although it's worth mentioning that an Iowa team filled with future NFL stars had to block TWO field goals at the end of the game to whip UNI by one point, 17-16, back in 2009. Can't take anyone for granted. Respect everyone, then beat their backsides.![]()

I think Lester will want to get some work in for the two new QB's and WR's. Still will see plenty of the run game, no doubt....It would be great to see the ball in the air a bit this game, but I'm assuming it will end up being a ground and pound control type of game. Similar to Albany last year.
I get the large point about easier schedule. But, what do you mean by "common opponent, Wake Forest"?We'll see how he handles playing a B1G defense in Kinnick, and not the kind of schedule W Carolina played. My bad. I was thinking Vandy. Good catch...I get the large point about easier schedule. But, what do you mean by "common opponent, Wake Forest"?
