I believe the winner of the FIFA Peace Prize** called the FIFA president and got the suspension reversed.Yep, I imagine they were under intense pressure to do this.

That is exactly what the Wall Street Journal is reporting.I believe the winner of the FIFA Peace Prize** called the FIFA president and got the suspension reversed.
It turns out there was heavy political pressure involved, from Trump.I doubt it. FIFA does what FIFA wants to do. They know a quarter final game involving USA will be more lucrative than a quarter final game involving Belgium.
Different rules back then. There was no automatic suspension for a red. Each case was reviewed individually. Most cards resulted in suspensions. I wasn’t alive then so I had to google it. That’s what I found.Once before during a World Cup

Might want to google that. That’s what I just did. Different rules back then.Go easy on him. Some people are new to the sport and have no knowledge of its history
What heavy political pressure could Trump put on FIFA? Overturn the red card or we’re not going to host the World Cup anymore? It turns out there was heavy political pressure involved, from Trump.
Threatened to withhold the TV revenue money from the SEC networkWhat heavy political pressure could Trump put on FIFA? Overturn the red card or we’re not going to host the World Cup anymore?
He is the President of the United States. Come on man. What heavy political pressure could Trump put on FIFA? Overturn the red card or we’re not going to host the World Cup anymore?
I don’t doubt the rumors he called but what’s he going to do if they don’t change it?He is the President of the United States. Come on man.
Interesting question. This is Trump we are talking about.I don’t doubt the rumors he called but what’s he going to do if they don’t change it?
I know he is, but what leverage could he possibly have on FIFA that would allow him to place heavy political pressure? The World Cup is the most popular sporting event in the world no matter where it is played. Nothing Trump could threaten would even be a gnat on FIFA’s arse. Him and Infantino are apparently buddies, so maybe he just called his friend up and said “how about suspending that red card, especially since it was a crap red card anyway.”He is the President of the United States. Come on man.
Amazing that this is on page 2 of this post. More proof of TDS?It turns out there was heavy political pressure involved, from Trump.

I’m not sure what’s more tiring, people screaming facist or people screaming TDS.Amazing that this is on page 2 of this post. More proof of TDS?
Now let's see if Trump can do something about offsides.
Yep. I'm not sure it should have reached that level of pressure, even though almost everybody agrees that the red card was not justified. Me, I know next to nothing about soccer, so I'll go with the majority on that opinion. That is exactly what the Wall Street Journal is reporting.
It has "we believe" written all over itAll this will result in the US getting smashed tomorrow night. It would be the most Mississippi State thing ever.
Or knowing when the game is over. **Amazing that this is on page 2 of this post. More proof of TDS?

You know what the World Cup/soccer doesn’t have that every other sport has? Commercial breaks. That’s what a running clock does for you.Or knowing when the game is over. **
He didn't read the article. He still thinks this is the only time it's ever happened. Even though it already happened a few weeks ago.It means they want the host team at full strength. Just like they wanted Renaldo in all 3 group stage games so they swapped the last 2 games of his 3-match ban for a similar suspension.
He's out the first half against AlcornLet’s put this in football terms he’ll have to sit a non conference game at some point.
I just can't imagine Trump doing something like this.I believe the winner of the FIFA Peace Prize** called the FIFA president and got the suspension reversed.
It hadn’t happened under the current rules in the World Cup, ever.He didn't read the article. He still thinks this is the only time it's ever happened. Even though it already happened a few weeks ago.
It doesn't look good but Fifa gave a pass to a European and a white Argentinian. Why not to the black American?Bottom line: this stinks of host country bias, Belgium is pissed, and the WC goes on.
After that France-Paraguay match, I don't really know how they decide yellow or red cards, anyway. It doesn't look good but Fifa gave a pass to a European and a white Argentinian. Why not to the black American?
So what was his take?Lalas with the worst takes on it it and Dempsey is just as sick of him as Henry and Zlatan.
Unfortunately, also an illegal play. He would need a red reverse card***
O.K. Compromise. Lalas sits out a match instead of BaloLalas with the worst takes on it it and Dempsey is just as sick of him as Henry and Zlatan.
Friend found a new UNO game, UNO No Mercy. Took four hours to play one hand. It was fun but towards the end it was like someone just win so we can go to bed.Unfortunately, also an illegal play. He would need a red reverse card***
That it would bad for team USA’s reputation and hurt any goodwill we had built up with fans around the world. So what was his take?
And it’s why people hate the hydration breaks. The general consensus is they kept them so they could sell advertising time. You know what the World Cup/soccer doesn’t have that every other sport has? Commercial breaks. That’s what a running clock does for you.
