Cashman seriously needs to look at MLB standings and find a right handed hitting catcher off the roster of one of the bottom 5/6 teams.

Maybe someone like Susac from the Giants?
Last resort...let Rice catch and get a left handed hitting 1B to platoon with Goldy?

No to Rice catching again.
Wasn't it not that long ago when everyone was raving about all of the quality catching that the Yankees had in their system ?
Anyway, nice sweep in Cleveland. Still wondering what Volpe is doing in the starting lineup. And what they figure they're gonna do with Stanton when he returns.

Maybe right with Rice, but the catching situation is untenable in it's current state.

They need Volpe until Judge comes back. Caballero is important to provide starting and outfield depth. Once he can go back to the infield full time, Volpe will end up in the minors.

The quality catchers were all traded away or fizzled out. Augustin Ramirez was the biggest miss as he's been really good when healthy with the Marlins.

Volpe should be DFA'ed. Complete bust.

OK.
After suffering through last night's game, I think I know who the Yankees are gonna drop from the rotation when Fried comes back.

Even though Volpe is local— I wonder if NYC just is not the place for him. Too much talent to be doing this poorly.

Yeah. He needs a change of scenery. I'm not seeing the talent he displayed earlier in his career...with the bat, the glove, or on the base paths. Lombard will be up soon enough to take the shortstop job anyway.

That is why I said that. The kid has shown he has the tools, he just put them together. He may actually have trade value as other teams may see that and think they can get him on track. He is still young but tons of experience

Excellent road trip to Cleveland and Toronto for the Yankees.....5-1.
Back in first place.
Blue Jay fans are probably still stunned.
Much improved White Sox up next in the Bronx.

Offense really rolling against the White Sox. Goldschmidt and Bellinger are on fire.

Gotta stretch out these heater as long as possible until Judge is able to come back and anchor the lineup.

I'm reading a lot of articles that Cashman is gonna be aggressive at the deadline to upgrade talent as he sees the opportunity to win with the American League so weak. Definitely need a catcher and a few bullpen pieces.

Someone, anyone, tell me why Dotel is still on this roster.

TIA
Hill was just as irritating, coming into a 1-1 game and hitting the first two batters he faced. These guys and most of the bullpen had plenty of rest prior to tonight's game. Fat lot of good it did the team.

I got a kick out of your post because it's a total Freudian slip. Who's worse, Dotel or Doval? Both suck pretty equally in my view.
Speaking of garbage, the entire AL blows except for TB and probably the Yanks. Will the Yanks back into another WS and then get embarrassed again? Very possible.

I expect a WS appearance also.

But the bottom half of the current lineup is so horrible that the NYY would be lucky to not get swept.
Too many leaks to plug.

Watching tonite's first few innings vs the Red Sox, defensively, is like watching a 9U youth game.

Rosario...LOL🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Then...Caballero with a absolutely terrible throw. Inning should have been done.
GARBAGE

Lucky that the AL sux.
Update...the end of the game was just pure comedy with relief pitching and another bad Volpe relay.
Tonite's game will be the next episode of "America's funniest home videos".

Be interesting what they try and add at the deadline.

So many damn holes.
Scoring 5 runs in three games against Boston's worst three pitchers isn't a good sign.
Just a dogshiit roster construction.

Another bad streak for the Yanks....lost seven of last ten games. Nobody hitting and starters slumping. Fooled by Cole's first two performances back into thinking he was back to his old self. It's gonna take a while.
It was funny though halfway through the season to hear fans of the last-placed Red Sox chanting "Yankees suck" at the first place team. Too funny.

Four straight games with only three hits for the Yankees.
I don't think I've ever seen such incredibly weak offensive production for four games in a row from the Bronx Bombers.

These guys need someone to really be a leader. The small things turn into big things and despite the winning there are some glaring issues. I know things always seem better in hindsight but I couldnt imagine a guy like Paul O Neill putting up with the nonsense going on haha.

There is plenty of time to fix things though so I hope they iron it out.

Make that five games with three hits or less!
An MLB record for futility.

Please get rid of Boone. I don't call for firings often but has anyone done less with the talent he has. And I know there are injuries but getting swept by the Sox and Tigers is embarrassing.

Great. The losing streak is over.
Grisham and McMahon returning made a difference.
Now they can start a new one.

Not bringing up Gil to sub for Rodon is telling.

He'll get traded at the deadline.
One last observation, it's incredible how bad this team is defensively.
What exactly is it going to take for Stienbrenner to pull the plug?

Not making the postseason is what it'll take to pull the plug, so nothing will happen. The Yankees ALWAYS make the post season.

From a team perspective, this team is unwatchable right now.
These guys look like they don't care.

Chisholm gotta go.
Doval, the same.
Wells...I know he's trying, but he's broken.
And I could go on.

I didn't watch, but 17 strikeouts?!?
I did. It was brutal. How did every guy on this team suddenly forget how to hit ?
The slump that Bellinger, Goldschmidt, and Rice are still going through is just hard to figure.
Lately every game it seems like they're gonna get no-hit.
Luckily Schlittler was back to his dominant self and Caballero hit that three-run shot after Tampa's starter Jax had walked two guys.
As for the strikeouts, Bellinger, Goldschmidt, and McMahon each had three and Rice, Dominguez, and Chisholm each had two. And that wasn't Sandy Koufax pitching for the Rays tonight.

Most teams would designate a scapegoat for this offensive offense.

And they were playing like this BEFORE Judge was injured again.

This is a "system failure".

Tonite...heading towards another 17 KOs nite...thru 5 innings, 12 down...5 to go!😅😅😅

Incredible. I wonder if it's ever been done before.
They followed up a 17 strike out game with another 17 strike out game.
And btw they could have won tonight's game too with even a halfway decent performance from the suddenly crappy Will Warren.
He's now in a real battle with Weathers for removal from the starting rotation when Fried returns in a short time.

This team blows and will continue to do so until Cashman is fired and his beloved analytics are scrapped.
