No they can play 11 next game the player that got red card will be suspended vs Belgium. Not a big loss with this much depth.
Ok, if we hold on and win, down a man, I would be actually impressed. I don’t think much of US soccer, but winning, after going down a man is good. I still don’t think we get past the Belgians, but tonight showed some grit, something we have rarely shown on the big stage.

The leading scorer for us in the tournament is not a big loss? Ok.
I would hate to see a soccer player in a boxing match. They would be knocked out cold in 5 seconds.
Never underestimate Belgiums ability to lay an egg in a big match. But without Balogun, it’s hard to see us scoring a goal.
Not just leading scorer. Our only really dangerous offensive threat.
I can clear a guy out with my shoulder but if I extend my arm and push I’m getting called 9 times out of 10

I am not a big expert, but I thought I saw stronger fouls that were called yellow cards, not red cards
It’s the injury potential. After seeing reply the Bosnia player is lucky his lower leg/ankle wasn’t shattered. Thats why it’s a red.
That was a leg breaker foul. That was the difference. Those are always judged harshly, rightly so.
Holding on to win, and even extending your lead, after going a man down with a one goal lead is impressive. That won’t mean a thing against Belgium, but it’s impressive nonetheless. I’m a sceptic when it comes to US soccer, so that is high praise from me. On to the next one!
I'm not denying that, I just think there were other fouls that were more worthy of a red card than they ended up making them. But the game is over, so who cares?

Finally got to hear Country Roads after a win. Admit I’m not a soccer fan but I am a USA fan. Finally got to watch a match tonight. For me, a non regular watcher, it can get slow to watch at times and the dang flops at times are infuriating. But the way that dude bent that ball into corner on free kick had me screaming USA. All in until it’s over from here on out.
Gotta admit, I’m surprised to learn that HS Girls soccer is much better than a World Cup Knockout match.

This is a live look at coaching soccer at the highest of levels. Disgusting and disgraceful to many casual observers..
Mauricio Pochetino belting out Country Roads at the top of his lungs after the game might have been the best thing I’ve seen. You can tell he has put his heart and soul into this program and the results are paying off. I hope we can sign him to a contract extension after the World Cup.
Some say EPL is much more competitive but I’d say a solid 1% of the United States population could even name 3 teams. In 2-3 weeks soccer will go back to the being the 7-8th most popular sport in America behind many of the rising women’s sports.
It can be a fun sport. I got to live in Buenos Aires during a World Cup and it was a blast. It will never be like that in America in our lifetimes however.
The highest level of the sport is the top level of the UEFA Champions’ League. Spectator wise soccer is probably 5th in the US now, behind football, basketball, baseball/softball, and hockey. Participation wise it’s probably at least third, and maybe second, already.
