I'm convinced early commitments are nothing more than a negotiating strategy now. Agents tell kids to commit somewhere to pressure the other programs to raise their bids to "flip" the kid.

Look how many "flips" there are now.

This is fantastic news, if only for the positive press it gives us on the recruiting trail. We needed some mojo after the recent losses.

However, as noted above, it's too bad we can't really get very excited about a commitment of this caliber. You can't enjoy it until they actually enroll, and sometimes not even then and only for a year at a time.
