It was, and I get it. I don’t hate on people for obviously thinking it was bs. However, those of us that were there and were part of it know it was actually 100% true. He told us on the private board and I spoke to NJGreg about it in private who was a mod. Told me directly and Mark said he was going to drop bad info so MJ would run with it. He did it, and sure enough MJ ran with it and I believe posted it. It was hilarious. Then of course rafter say his say he was wrong on purpose and used it to the fullest extent of the law, which I get.

But it did happen, plenty of us saw it, and I’m sure anyone here that was there will fully corroborate that is did happen. It’s not even a debate, it 100% happened.

@DKersey I know is one that knows.
Yes, he said on the premium board that he was going to drop it and see if Matt Jones took the bait because he was posting premium info he posted on KSR as his own info. It was funny because Matt Jones said there is some truth to this South American point guard rumor.

In whatever that was did he promote his X account name, MeManBoy, aloud? Like actually saying it? If so, did he wince at all?

Maggard challenged Matt Jones on Twitter and he backed down just he like he did dropping out of the Senate race against Mitch McConnell after releasing a book trashing him. He saw no path to victory, as he would have to flip some counties in the western part of the state. It would have taken some major redistricting to give Matt a chance. And his Kentucky Project went bust just like KSBar.

Maybe Matt will emcee Fancy Farm again this August.

It was just a good time for information and the war between them and KSR was great. That’s more what I mean. Not the information itself.

Why wasn’t Matt a premium board member? Couldn’t he just read that information himself? That’s what I don’t understand about the whole situation.

There was a group of people in a section above Premium whom Marc told he was going to see if Matt fell for the bait. The group consisted of mods and insiders like Dave Kersey.

Ohhh ok I got ya. Thanks. That part never made sense to me. I wasn’t aware of a private board between members.

Any y'all ever hit up Marc Maggard's bar at the Square in Bowling Green? Not bad. Visited 2x in 2012. Decent craft beer selection back then.

Heh, my cousin's son picked up one of the waitresses. Too funny.

Maggard is an interesting guy, he seems to be into everything. Basketball insider, wedding singer, bar owner, and did he work for the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico? He also has the best frosted tips outside the Backstreet Boys.

To be balanced, he did have some good scoops like DeAndre Liggins who was a top 13 player in the country. UK was not leading for him, but Gillespie got him in for a visit, and Marc Maggard posted that he was blown away on his visit and was going to commit the day before he committed.

Probably his best scoop was when most people thought Marquis Teague was going to Louisville with the connections they had, and he said Teague was going to commit to UK and had even arranged a bus leaving from Lexington the next morning to take fans who wanted to see his announcement at his Indianapolis High School. No one else called this.
I was there at Pike High School for the Teague announcement

He also worked on a cruise ship and had a babysitting service. And owned a comedy club in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

He moved to Austin for a bit to be closer to Mexico.
Correct.

Emails I got from him below, 01/03/2008:

Hello UK fans!!!

I'm going to have a party at my home on Lake Travis in Austin Texas if anyone is able to come over on Saturday for the game. I'm going to start about two hours prior to tipoff (1pm CENTRAL time zone).

Anyone who is able to stop by is invited. I live next to Mansfield dam in "The Villas at Commanders Point". If you are coming in on 620 headed west, it's right PAST the damn on the right, if you are coming east, it's right before the dam on the left.

Once you turn into Mansfield Dam, I'm the first left...go to the gate, the code is 8339. Then go thru the gate, second street on the right, third house on the right. It's easy to find.

I've got two 60 inch big screens and High Def TV with DVR's for replays! My living room seats about 20 comfortably and the downstairs living room seats about 10 easy. There will be plenty of room. I'll be cooking chicken, burgers and dogs....bring some drinks!

Please, if you are going to come, let me know via email at [email protected]. I want to make sure I have it all set up good for everyone!

This event is kid friendly if you want to bring your children, however beer will be served (if that offends anyone). We have a 5 yr old boy and a 10 year old girl who will be here and will happily entertain your kids upstairs with visions of Disney channel and Hanna Montana!

Hello all,

So far we have about 10 people confirmed for the UK/UL party I’m having at the house. Just so everyone understands, you don’t have to know any of us to attend. It will be a great way to meet some new UK fans! I’ve pasted the original invitation below for those who may have missed it.

I’ll give a quick introduction so you can “know your host”….maybe that will help.

My name is Marc Maggard and I’m originally from Glasgow, Ky. I own a marketing company here in Austin. For a little over a decade, I’ve ran a basketball recruiting service as well. Most of the top NCAA schools subscribe to my service, including UK. I also run the largest independent (non Rivals/Scout) UK website on the internet. We have over 10,000 members and are growing every day. The majority of our members really enjoy recruiting, which is where our site excels for obvious reasons. The site is Kentuckyink.com if anyone wants to check It out. I have met many of you at our other watch parties and I hope you can all make it to the house for UofL and some new friendmaking.

TBK wasn’t a scam. It was legit. Easily the best era of insider news that’s ever been. He was inside 100% and had info down to the detail. He also was “wrong on purpose” and we had several who were told he was going to do that before he did it, and sure enough, the info was taken by Matt Jones and ran with. But I can give you countless examples of his information being on the money in ways it can only be when you’re plugged in.

Having said that, he’s just awful. One of the worst personalities I’ve ever been around. Even friends of his on the board didn’t like him. And he still took lifetime memberships when he knew he was months from shutting down. Weeks even.

Both are true.
Sometimes he was just wrong and his ego couldn't take being called out (Michael Porter was our best option at pg). We had an argument after I said Derrick Jasper came back early from his injury to play. He called me uninformed and that no such thing happened. Even had his minion Spear lie and say he spoke to Jasper's Dr. I uploaded a video of Jasper in a WAVE 3 interview saying he came back early and played hurt. Rack em *****. Then I was banned.

I recall the opposite happening.
I remember Teague was favored to go to UL because his dad or another family member had played for Pitino previously. UL was favored from his freshman year up until cal was hired. Think it was late 2009 when most of the services was saying that Cal sold him on becoming a one and done ala John Wall. From then on Kentucky was favored. There was some rumors right before his commitment date to create some drama but most everyone knew he was going to Kentucky.
Also Liggins.... everyone knew he was going to commit to Kentucky even other sites like rock chalk Jayhawk was stating that Kentucky was the favorite.

What maggard did was subscribe to all the sports agencies like rivals, scout etc he took the articles and recorded them to make it his own.
I used to go to all these different sites and read the same thing maggard would. Id see him later put up the info like it was his own.
It wasnt his own.
I used to go to a bunch of events and sit with the families of players and hear all kinds of stuff and came to the board and told some of it... like Wiggins was not coming to Kentucky. He did not like Kentucky. It went over like a lead balloon. Guess who called that right?
I came on here stating Thon Maker sucked even though he was the top ranked player in the country at the time.
But his teammate was freaking awesome and just a junior. NBA level player. That guy was Jamal Murray and later played in the Nike game and the world got to see how much of a talent he was. Luckily Cal started recruiting him and we landed his commitment and he reclassified and foregoing his senior year of school.

I saw tons of players.

A few weeks ago, Ol' Frosty Tips posted on Twitter that there was zero chance Mark Mitchell would end up at Kentucky. He kept going on about how he was a problem and said he had drugs in locker room.

After Mitchell committed, he posted about it so I responded by asking him about his previous comments. He never acknowledged my question. I tried to find his original tweet and it had been deleted but all of the responses to that tweet were still there.
