Is it me or is anyone else just shocked how little fanfare there is for this. I was 4 in 1976 and still have a vague recollection of the adults excited and extra fireworks and fanfare. And of course the cool quarters I loved to hoard later.

Knowing if I was lucky enough health and accident wise I would see the 250th one, I imagined it being so much more and an all year long build up. A troubling indictment of where we are as a country that it’s really just another July 4th in a few days really.

Since I was a kid, and hearing how much of a celebration our 200th was, I couldn't wait until our 250th.

But now it seems like our 250th will be worse than an average year.

My god, Trump sucks. He takes the joy out of everything.

The reason Democrats don't see patriotic appreciation for America's 250th birthday is because you all live in extremely partisan echo chambers and the party at large does NOT show any love for America in general anymore. There have literally been lines in the rain to access the DC grounds for the celebration btw

I wish the whole country would sit down for an hour and watch at least the last episode of ken burns " The American Revolution"....

I watched it again recently and it just made me marvel at that group of patriots that rose up to defeat the most powerful military in the world.

I know the morale of the USA population is subdued but this noble democratic experiment that continues transcends mere mortals that currently lead our govt and I am going to celebrate the common spirit that embued a whole populace to fight for true independence.

America was the first of colonies around the world to rebel and overthrow monarchies.
They showed it could be done....and the whole planet followed their lead.
Really remarkable.
God bless the USA.
Now, let's keep striving for that more perfect union.

The Bicentennial celebration was a much bigger deal. Trump inevitably made 250 a partisan affair, which doomed it from the start.

He also took all the money from the bipartisan 250th celebration and funneled it to his lame partisan event. That is when a #1 of A-list performers backed out of performing there. Even Vanilla Ice claimed he couldn't perform because it was too hot.

Like everything else, Trump put his hands all over this and ****** it up.

Absolutely, when you remove funding from the non-partisan org. that had been planning the celebration to use it for your own aggrandizement and you kick off the event with the word "libtards", we can correctly say it's Trump's fault. Because it is...

He's too stupid to undestand how ****** up this is and doesn't care. Also, he will never admit it was a bad play by the President. Because he's an aggressive bootlicker who loves to be dominated by authoritarianism. He's a weirdo.

I assume it's sparse because everyone will be either attending Taylor Swift's wedding or going to Swifty watch parties like @Moral. I was invited at the last minute but my attorney advised me against signing the non disclosure agreement required to attend. Still not sure what to buy for the young couple, I think they're registered at Target...

I’m sure there will be some tens of thousands of MAGA yokels at the kid rock concert - y’all love celebrities associated with statutory rape after all. But are you actually suggesting Trump’s 250th great American state fair has been an attendance success?

You are aware that it has been VERY poorly attended thus far right?

Lulz, there is a reason the mood stabilizers and suicide are so prevalent in the Dem party.

Jesus guys, who cares who the president is for that 4 hours, enjoy yourself.

Read this story and see if you can tell me why Joe Public thinks Dem males are limp dicked.

Trump knows he is under the microscope for everything, your not going to get him on unnamed sources saying they have material from unnamed sources that implies they thought they were sending money to one organization and even though it said another organizations name.... you thought someone else was getting it.

Not enough attention has been paid to this.

"America 250" was a Congressionally created organization to plan celebrations for our 250th anniversary. Admittedly, the general malaise over the majority in this country was going to dampen the spirit of the celebration. But Trump could not stand having the country and its founders by the focus of attention instead of himself. He also didn't like the fact that he had no way to monetize the celebration. So he created "Freedom 250" as basically a private organization that provided a way to funnel money to his friends and make the celebration all about him.

I was 19 in 1976. Despite years of significant divide in our country from Vietnam and Civil Rights, there was widespread unity and joy for our 200th anniversary. Like so much going on right now, the fact that there is no true celebration right now is sad.

Trump doesn’t care about a microscope, Between Presidential immunity and the power of pardons, accountability is the least of his or his families worries. It is almost comical how we heard so much about the ” Biden crime family” and Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, And now we have a President and his family enriching themselves at numbers that are frankly hard to imagine and the people that were so enraged by the Biden crime family go silent or say “nothing to see here”.
