Dang it Mexico...

Pressure is on the US to not suck tomorrow. Three North American teams could make the round of 16.

We can't be out and Mexico and Canada in... but that is the most likely scenario because I am an Iowa fan and we can't have nice things.

El Tri looked good tonight against an overmatched Ecuador...but their tight back looked awful & gave up a few good han es that Ecuador ouldnt finish.

France is really good
France, with Didier Deschamps either playing or managing, has made international soccer so much better. They use their relentless attack to push numbers forward and really go for it all match, knowing they’re taking a calculated risk. And what have France’s goal scoring totals been? Well, in their four World Cup Finals since 1998, they’ve scored 3, 1, 4, 3. They lost the second (against an incredible Italian defense) and the fourth in PKs. This year they have scored 3+ goals every match. And they also do it without the histrionics or diving. Just a great team to watch.

If England goes down Harry K should punch himself in the dick for looking for that PK instead of just being a man and running through the challenge.
Yep. He pulled out and tried to sell the dive. Congo GK barely touched him and he went flying. Had he went through it there would for sure be a penalty.

Yup

Stars always come out

The big names have truly played like stars this year. Most years you'll have one of the big names who just can't find the net, whether through bad luck, great defensive play, or just not having the ball end up coming their way - but so far this year that has not been the case.

how we feeling US soccer fans?

I wish I was confident, but damn FIFA gave us a raw deal. Everyone else only has one match this round; for some reason we have to play a doubleheader - against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Do we have to beat both of them to move on, or will a split do the trick?

11 on 22 is difficult, but we can do it!

Belgium looks old and slow

They've looked lousy the entire tournament....a couple of sluggish draws against Egypt & Iran, followed by an easy win against New Zealand, who was probably the weakest team in the field. Not really surprised that they're getting smoked by Senegal.

What he said. They have been unimpressive.

As far as the US game goes. I was pumped but am getting a bit nervous the closer we get. Feels like a game we should win, but…

And side note. Mexico has looked really good this tournament. **** Mexico.

Welp, Belgium just made me look like a fool. And in like 60 seconds. Story of my life.

I know they are our biggest rival, but i had a blast last night watching their match at a local Mexican restaurant. I was the only gringo in the place but had a blast drinking Modelo & watching with the rowdy packed house. Even knocked down a couple of shots of Don Julio that were brought to me by a couple of guys I'd coached when they played in the youth league with my sons.

I meant to ask yesterday. Where did you go to watch the Mexico game?
