Interesting. I think we can all understand why they went that direction. It won't be long before Tiger Jr up the road turns their field orange.
A garnet field would be....interesting. I would think that would make it substantially hotter.
Turf is substantially hotter than grass. Painting it a color like purple is likely to make it even hotter.

You know it's fake because there's no good way to monetize changing the field color. All improvements to "gameday experience" now are about making more money.
Now, maybe if Purple Power Degreaser paid them $10m to paint the field purple . . .
