Starts Tuesday with highs just nudging above 90 and then really gets going on Wednesday with highs climbing into the mid to upper 90s. Thursday and Friday are progged to see widespread 100 degree or more temperatures across NJ away from the coast and major cities like DC, Philly and NYC. Heat indices will reach 110 or higher those days. Saturday the 4th offers a reprieve along the coast but will still have highs in the low to mid 90s inland, a bit more clouds around with a shot at late thunderstorms.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110
degrees possible during the daytime hours.
* WHERE...Eastern Monmouth, Western Monmouth, Middlesex, Somerset,
Ocean, and Southeastern Burlington Counties.
* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very warm low temperatures in the mid 70s to
low 80s at night will not offer any relief from the heat. This
combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures
will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minute
