I'm primarily a corporate meeting/event guy, with some cruises along the way. I have performed mostly on Crystal all over Europe, a transatlantic crossing, a couple of south Pacific trips, and an Indian Ocean transit. I did perform on MSC. It was a pretty nice ship, but very crowded. Also my experience there was different because it was a KLOVE Christian Radio cruise rather than just a "cheap Bahamas cruise." Also performed on American Cruise Lines on the MS River - an older demographic. I've cruised as a passenger on Princess in Alaska. I guess counting performances and passenger cruises I've done maybe 17 or 18 cruises?

But I have friends whose entire careers have been spent performing on ships on all the lines and we have talked shop over the last 25 years. When I want to know what's up with a cruise line, I have people to ask who know the ugly truth and know most of the ships like the back of their hand.
We took one cheap Bahamas cruise with some fly by night cruise line. It was not what I would classify as a cruise. It was nothing more than a boat ride with refreshments.

The wife and I went on a Carnival Cruise about 7 or 8 years ago and figured out that we are not cruise people. Now a days you couldn't pay me to go on a cruise especially Carnival. My in-laws wanted to do a family cruise next year and I hurt my mother-in-law's feelings by telling her I refused to go.

The most shocking thing about the video is the amount of pajamas and shower caps.
Traveling on a plane or boat used to be something you got dressed up for. Now apparently you just roll out of bed and go. Going out in public dressed like that is mind boggling. You don’t have any pride about yourself?

I enjoy the theme nights where you get dressed up for dinner when we do Royal Caribbean. It's not mandatory but a surprising amount of folks go all out.

I thought magicians “talking shop” with each other was like, very against the rules?

I am convinced that carnival is a creation of a consortium of the other cruise lines maintained for the sole purpose of diverting unwanted customers.

theoretically, this may be why Mississippi is propped up by the federal government. Same general proposition.

This seems to be the only purpose some of our major cities serve at this point also .

Heh...we do this at our store starting in October and rolling through Christmas.

If the cruise could keep the riff raff out, I would enjoy that sort of thing. The main problem is, keeping the riff raff out includes me.

This seems so obvious once it’s said out loud. That would make so much sense.

I could give many more examples. But I shan't.

You and the others wanting to shy away from fight club are not their customers anyway. Plenty are willing to shell out the $299 for a state room, all you can eat skrimps, and 10 rounds on the leedo deck.
I'll probably be going home with Morningstar now, but I l
My family likes cruises and we use to sail on Carnival, but are branching out now that they changed their loyalty system. After experiencing other cruise lines I can definitely say my opinion is it's just the clientele, especially on their shorter (cheaper) cruises and depending on where you sail out of. We did a short cruise on Carnival out of Galveston a few years ago and the people were terrible. Last year we did a short cruise on MSC out of Port Canaveral and it was completely different and was a great experience.

I also hate Carnival's 15 per day drink limit. Not that I hit that limit a ton, but I don't like counting my drinks on vacation. But it's interesting that they are one of the only cruise lines with that limit and they still have all these problems. Royal has no limit and MSC has a 15 drink limit with their package but you can buy more after that, so no actual limit. Yet, you don't hear about them having the drunken problems that Carnival does.
Maybe Royal is on to something. If you are too drunk to stand up, you are too drunk to throw punches.

They need to price those folks out of the market then.

Had a coworker that swears by MSC. He and his wife go on 2 long cruises a year.

I have been on 2 carnival cruises, 30 years ago. No fights, that wasnt a thing then. Horrendous cruise mate though, so I suffered anyway.
So let's elaborate on the "horrendous cruise mate". This sounds as if it has potential.

Disgusting. Of all the things I claim I’ll never do.. getting on a cruise ship is #1.
Amen. It just takes one person to say "I think im over this stomach flu, and it's too late to cancel, so I'm going" to turn a ship into a floating barf-o-rama. To hell with those floating Petri dishes sailing into moist warm air.

No one likes a braggart.
Funny guy. The term hotel is a huge stretch. We refer to it as the trip from hell. It was during Covid. The wife and I both tested positive so they wouldn’t let us board the ship. They got our luggage off of the ship, dropped it on the sidewalk, and left us stranded there. Spent the night at the Morning Wood Motel, got a sea plane out of there the next day to Juneau. Two days later we made it back home. Long story and most of it was horrible. We are actually talking about trying to go back next year and try again.

Speaking of the Bahamas, was reading a random article and ran across this. Have to say I missed it, so that's what he's up to these days. Of course it begs the question .... Herschel or Bo?
