America.
There are so many instances and reports of people who can't believe how nice it is here.
I keep hearing (on the XM radio soccer station) from fans whose home country media have told them how awful we are, just to find out that they were lied too by that media. We should not be surprised as our media is mendacious as well.
I'd post an example but I'm writing this on my phone and it's not allowing me, but you can look it up yourself and find many.
God bless America!

There are a couple on here that have lived in another country, myself included. Their media shows THAT United States because that’s what OUR media shows to the world. Until they come here, most foreigners indeed do not admire Americans or America; then when they do they sing a different tune, because America is indeed unlike any other country in the world. My family hosted a German foreign exchange student several years back who played on the German youth national golf team and wanted to come here for the courses. When he first came he was highly critical and leery of our food and of what he had been told about Americans. When he left, his eyes had been opened to what goes on here to say the least, and he left with a better understanding. He also was strapping on the feed bag and stuffing his face (which of course you can do when you’re young and active) at any restaurant we’d go to. Side note, he’d never seen American football; he went home with a Stephen Garcia jersey and a gamecock helmet.

One of them said "If you watch the news, you'll hate America. If you visit America, you'll love America."

There are some simple things about our country they simply can't fathom: hopping in your car and easily driving hundreds of miles, free refills, drinks loaded with ice. Not even the things we think of as being important.

I think other countries have some great aspects as well. We lived in Japan for 2 years and it was a fantastic experience.

It has been fun though to be reminded by these visitors of how many amazing things we have here.

I've done mission work in 3rd world countries and I know what true poverty looks like. Americans are blessed beyond belief, even though a lot dont realize it.

18 beat me to it, but its that quote that's been playing in my head a lot these past few weeks.

If you watch the news, you hate america. If you drive through it, you'll love america.

One side note, I think we really dont hate our news agencies enough.

Good point.
We (probably just me) want to think the best of people, but it's probable that some are worse than we could imagine.

I watch the news plenty and have never felt people criticizing America hated america

Most of us love the Gamecocks. We also hate on them a lot and criticize the hell out of them a ton. Some of us have sworn we will never "pay another dime" to support the team we say we love. Some of us have sworn to "never watch another game" until things change or get better because things are so awful. I even know people that won't read message boards because they accuse those that do of saying such awful thinks about the Gamecocks that they can't stomach it or understand it.

Some of us call out players, Some of us call for people to lose their jobs on a regular basis, including coaches that of programs that don't make millions of dollars. Some of us use vulgarities to describe teams, coaches, and even players. Sometimes, those comments can be borderline personal, or even go over that line into personal attacks.

Some of us rip politicians and others who talk politics on a regular basis, use nasty insults against them, allege they hate America- including people that have put their lives on the line and served in combat zones and even some that have been wounded or lost parts of their body in conflicts.

But I don't interpret their comments, sometimes vile comments, as hating the gamecocks, etc. I interpret their comments as acknowledging mistakes, sometime bad mistakes (Darrin Horn) and wanting better, demanding better, expecting better.

Other than a few exceptions, I see those that criticize America the same way.

Of course those who criticize America would never say they hate America. They would say they love America....all while they try want to turn into something completely different from what it always has been.

Much like folks who claim to love college football but want to change everything quintessential about the sport.

"always been" can be good or bad. We are a country, not a perfect entity.

Donald' Trump's entire first campaign was "Make America great again" offering many comments about how awful America was and had "gone to hell." I even remember when a reporter reminded Trump about how many people Vladimir Putin had ordered to be killed when Trump was talking about how much he liked him. Trump responded that America had done a lot of terrible things too.

I read and watched many supporters agree with him about how bad America was and needed to be fixed. Many just laughed off the comments, including the ones about how America had done a lot of awful things too.

In their mind, Trump could say those things because he's "just telling it like it is." But damn anyone else that said such a thing.

it's interesting to watch people support such comments, but when people offer criticism and say America needs to do better in a number of aspects, they accuse them of hating America.

The argument could be made (naively ) I suppose that people who are reporting prevaricatedly dont actually hate America.
Then why are they lying?
What is there purpose or motivations?
There can be no argument made that they are not lying, just the motivation behind it.
Could there be a group or sect of people pushing this? What is the end goal?
People with the ability for abstract thought can see what is happening and come to a determination that is accurate.
