Poch 100% made the right choice with his lineup last night. So our subs lost? Who cares? Better than Germany who lost to Equador and Germany played mostly starters

We just clearly have some guys that are irreplaceable

Richards - without doubt our best CB by a mile

Adams - elite defensive MF. Nobody close to him

Pulisic- offense WAY more dangerous with him in it and without doubt our best player

Balogun - I like Pepi but he was a non factor in both of his games. Balogun just gets it done

These 4 are are most important players

Weah was most dissapointing to me. Looked tentative. Too many offsides calls and seemed to lack pace. Was out position for US playing on the left but that shouldn’t impede him…

Reyna looked like Reyna.

Was amazed how team changed once CP came in.

Weah, Reyna and Pepi were all underwhelming, especially Weah, which surprised me, as I thought he had been playing pretty well. Only Berhalter made a strong case for more playing time, IMO.

France - Norway has been entertaining with Mbappe and Dembele both playing, but Haaland on the bench. If France plays well, I think they're the best team and the favorite to in it all, but I think I said that the last two WC's, lol (and was right on one and barely wrong on the other, as Argentina squeaked by on PKs).

With Belgium winning Group G that would be our most likely opponent in Round of 16 of we can take care of business in the new dumb Round of 32.

ugh - beat Bosnia and we prob face Belgium in round of 16. I know lineups were a bit different but they recently crushed us. They have a LOT of talent even if they haven’t played their best. They are loaded.

Egypt would have been better.

But, it’s the World Cup!

We need a Paraguay type performance to beat Belgium and Freese will need to impress. Turner wasn’t so great.

Belgium seems like a great draw. NZ is terrible. Belgium is out of sorts and their star players are aging out.

🌍 WORLD CUP 2026 KNOCKOUT RACE BY CONFEDERATION! 📊

Africa confederation the clear winner statistically but it’s misleading as they didn’t finish first on any group.

Concacaf won 2 groups, UEFA (Europe) won 7, and Conmebol (South America) won 3.

🔸Knockout Qualification Rate:
CAF: 9/10 — 90%
CONMEBOL: 5/6 — 83%
UEFA: 13/16 — 81%
CONCACAF: 3/6 — 50%
AFC: 2/9 — 22%
OFC: 0/1 — 0%

US Soccer dodged a bullet by not hiring Jesse Marsch. Having a player grab him at the half and send him down the tunnel is beyond embarrassing. Dude thinks every foul not given is a national offense to him.

Canada has come really close to scoring on several occasions, but some great defending/goalkeeping have kept them from converting.

Honestly, I couldn't have cared less had they won or lost a (potential) match vs South Korea however now, based on the fact that you THOUGHT I had some kind of "negative bias" towards Canada (nice ASSumption), all I gotta say is "BAFANA BAFANA!!!"
Canada wins ***

Very happy to see Canada win. Great goal by their captain.

Did anyone watch the end of the Algeria - Austria match? Just a crazy ending - looked like both teams were just going to kick the ball around and take the tie (as that would send both teams through) and then Algeria surprisingly attacked and scored with about 3 minutes of stoppage time left - and then Austria came back and scored with just seconds left to retie the game. For ~2 minutes Iran thought they would go through assuming Austria would lose. Love seeing teams not mail it in when they could.

The really thought they had something. American soccer is not yet a powerhouse but compared to Australia they are. Not sure why they wanted all that smoke. They are 1-28 all time vs America

Whatever. 1-28. They aren’t even close historically or now. They should have just STFU.

Wrong, as usual. Prior to this match, the record was 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie against Australia in men's soccer. Maybe stick to lacrosse.

Mexico by FAR has the toughest draw of the 3 host countries gettting Equador that has talent to get to the semis - really tough match up but I think Mexico pulls it out

All three host countries now have a good chance to advance. One has obviously. One thing that I have found a little exasperating in this cup has been teams’ lack of killer instinct on the attack. Once Canada was decisive enough to send a ball in deep, it forced a defensive mistake and a good thing happened. Too much ***** footing and getting cute on the attacks in this tournament. France on the other hand, has a killer instinct and goes for the jugular.

You are right but France has multiple elite level attackers. Most teams do not have that.

Pulisic has good intentions whenever he touches the ball and it just looks different when he attacks vs all of our other guys

Truly like Donovan

Balogun is a good striker like Dempsey but not creative players

I think the US has been one of the lesser offenders in this case. I just don’t think you need a world-class finisher to take an attack deeper and explore the potential. Too many guys appear to be hesitant to do that.

Yes I saw it. It was as though both teams had decided we'll take the point and count our money. And Algeria suddenly said F-that, let's win the damn game. And Austria said F-THAT, no you won't. And Iran said we're F-d.

I don’t think we really know just. We looked very dangerous at lot first half vs Paraguay. Way less after Pulisic was subbed out

Vs Austrailia the 2 striker formation didn’t work at all and we missed Pulisic

Vs Turkiye we put in Team B except McKennie and we didn’t look great - not bad- not great

So we really only have seen one half of our best XI. If we play like we did first half cs Paraguay we may have a real shot to the quarters

1-0 Japan to get things going (called The Dutch, Germans and Banzai Warriors (okay...The Blue Samurai) to go to the next stage in Round Table Thread) in Houston!

@RUChet not loving Japan's jersey choice today

Was just wondering why we hadn't seen any of those huge flags we see in most of the European leagues and as suspected they're not allowed at the WC - flags must be limited to 78x60". Those huge flags would annoy me at sporting events in the US (like RU games). Just imagine the threads we'd have on this board if they were allowed - would make the threads about the loud music look like child play, lol.

And if you were curious, Iraq and Saudi Arabia do not allow their flags to touch the ground (they have sacred text, for muslims, on them), which is why they had people holding those flags up over the ground at the start of their matches.

Brazil looked like the better team but doesn’t look like an elite team. Combo of Japan has gotten better and Brazil has less elite talent perhaps

Nope. I don’t think they’ve looked “elite” yet during the tournament.

Germany ties it 1-1 on a gorgeous header by Havertz. This game is looking just like the Brazil match, where the dominant team went down 1-0 against the run of play and then tied up early in the 2nd half. Will this one end similarly?

Do you think people come here for a play by play of a live game? You don't need to post what everyone is either watching or will go somewhere else to see.
